2 x Radion XR30 or 3 x Radion XR15 on a 4 foot tank

I'm ready to try out some different lights from my tried and true Kessils. Nothing wrong with the Kessils - just the gear junkie in me want to try something new (and the wife wants moonlights)

Which is better on a 4 foot mixed tank. In terms of spread and coverage?

3 XR15 Pro G4 units spaced evenly at 12, 24 and then 36 inch marks

or

2 XR30 Non pro G4 units placed so each covers a 24 inch area.

I will be using the RMS mounts if that makes a difference.

You didn't specify the width of the tank. If it's a75-120 gal tank. I'd mount them front to back for a more even spread. Mounting them all in a strip is gonna leave you with tons of shadowing

Meaning the 2 light pucks are spaced front to back on the 30's. Not side to side. If all 4 are in a line it will cover shadowing from side to side but the corals will only receive light from 2 angles instead of 4

3 would be sweet but a lot of money for that size of a tank. Honestly if I had it to do over again, t5 is where my money would have gone a lot further. My next tank, 200dd is gonna have 2x 8 bulb t5 for main lighting and just use the kessils for ramping and shimmer

Looking to buy a house now and these will all carryover to the dream build.

I wish I had a canopy or place to mount T5s but I don't.
