$20 for a 1/2 frag of Tyree neon green toadstool is this too much?

$20-30 is a very fair price, and they buyer inspected the item beforehand. If he didn't like it, he didn't have to hand you the money and take it home.

Toadstools are pretty hard to kill. Sometimes they look miserable for a while, but rarely die unless they get infected or have too little flow to heal properly and smother.

The truth is, many people in this hobby will try to talk you down both before the sale and then complain after that it was still too much. It doesn't matter how good a deal is; some people are just never happy. If you are straightforward and honest and give your buyers exactly what you promised, then you don't need to do a thing to placate them.

I think I was just shocked that he was complaining about a 20 dollars frag. Honest I don't think I've ever bought a frag lower than 25 in my last 4-5 yrs of reefing. Granted I like the exotic stuff but I still think 20 is a good price for pretty much any frag of sps/lps out there these days.

isseym328 I think your prices are fair and you did not mislable anything. $20 is a very good deal at that, most go for 40-50 at a lfs. I think he is just made that his friends mad fun of him. I also agree with what everyone has said already. The guy went to your house, saw the piece, knew it was a fresh cut and still wanted to buy it and wanted it at a lower price it wasn't like you put a gun to his head and said you have to buy it. He had a chance to change his mind. I would just brush it off like a grain of sand. Oh and the Tyrees Pink polyps cap is doing great and already has the polyps out. Thanks again.

glad you like it Mario. $25 for a nice frag of Tyree pink polyped cap. I think that's a steal. The base should start showing some green again once you give it ample lights and calc/alk levels are up. Thanks for meeting up with me in Irvine. I was a little late to class but I'm blaming it on traffic. =)

Some people are just reallly cheap, you could have said 5 dollars and he proboly still would have complained. :) I'm sure if it lives in his tank and grows.. a year from now he will be like .. Ya and i got this awsome coral for only 20 bucks!

james, i think that is a great price for the neon green toad. i dont know if someone menitoned it before but toads are really hardy and hard to kill. it will take at least a month for a fresh cut to show polyps. if he really has lfs buddies he should ask his friends how often they get blue rics or neon green toadstools in their shop. = ) dont even sweat it bro! i would be upset though if he came at you the wrong way in his pm's. anyhow, i know you are into the hard to get corals so with time since he is a newb he will realize he scored! good luck with the move

Hey James good to meet you and thanks for the toadstool. When I checked it this morning the polyps are already out!!

Really? Wow that's pretty fast. I'd expect at least a few days before the polyps come out since it wasn't even out on my own mother colony. The mom is very unhappy that I keep on cutting her up, but oh wellz I have to move and no room for all of her.

Thanks for dropping by yesterday it was really nice to chat with you. Good luck on the downgrade!

I think the price was very reasonable. Most of them I have seen from local reefers are $35 for the leather. I think part of the problem is new tank related, new hobbiest and nasty friends. Hopefully they will open up and do well for the new reefer. When I was new to the hoppy I would have been disapointed if I spent $40.00 for two frags and they did not do well. I should say I was disapointed way to many times when I spent $40.00 for two frags and they did not do well!! My supposed friends laffing at me would be just rubbing salt in the wound! OUCH!! I hope he finds some real friends in the hobby to help and incourage him.

FYI- I spent $90 to buy a 1" piece almost 2 years ago. I think $20 was cheap. Tell him to return it, give him his $20 back and sell it to one of the appreciative reefers here
