This pool is own by my friend in Beijing, he has plan this project over one year, the target is a salt water pool with big SPS corals.

This pool is about 4.6 x 2 x 1 meters in size, about 2000 gallon water. The pool located in a sunroom with one glass front (about 2 x 1 meter) in side, so we could view this pool just like a "tank" from the basement.

This photo is the pool with fresh water to test whole structure ...

There is a white "landing stage" on the pool, the wall undered landing stage divided the pool into two area, the shallow area is design for gaint clam , anemones and clownfishs, we will also plant mangroves around shallow area. The deep area on the other side is for SPS reefs.

Here is the photo taken in construction phase.

After the fresh water fills up, we were waitting for about one month the make sure structures is fine, till the fresh water turn to green... but at that time, a typhoon hit south China so we could not get the live rock we need, the only thing could do is waitting... for another month.

Nice. What are the wooden pillars supporting the stairs? Assuming they are treated lumber to resist rot? If so, are you concerned about leeching preservatives into the water?

to prop-frags: wooden pillars is pine wood with water resistant paint to prevent leeching preservatives into the water, this is fine in freshwater project but we do not have experience in saltwater with this material...

to robvdv: Sorry I do not know detail about method to treat concrete. Basicly it should put some fiber materials on the surface of concrete to prevent cracking and then paint water resistant coating for several times. It is similar with Koi pool but the concrete grade maybe different.

After a month waitting, the live rock arrived and the pool could finally "go salty"... there are about 2200lb live rocks be used in the pool...
