In Beijing, the sun angle in winter is low, so there are some area without sunshine in the pool, and we add four 400W metal halide for supplement, maybe more metal halide would be added after the corals been placed.

Pretty neat. I will be interested to see how it handles temp and algae issues especially with direct sunlight

We have a cooling system connected to a bigger greenhouse, it work by water and evaporating system. The algae issues is unknown for this pool, but it seems that is not a problem with smaller reef system with sunlight.

Pics for the shallow area... some creatures has been added, include 10 gobies, worms and crabs to keep sand bed looks good. The sand bed of the shallow area is over the water on the edge of the pool to get more natural view, but it cause a problem: the saltwater is siphon out slowly by the capillary structure in the sand, now we have do nothing on this, but if it is a serious problem maybe we should do some modification.

All of these photos was taken by the end of 2010, now the first batch of SPS corals and some Tangs has been added, I hope I could update soon with more pics and videos :-)

awesome!!...simply awesome..!!..can't wait to see it fill up with livestock...

meanwhile i also think that sand 'shore' will cause problem in long run...

oh I can't wait to see pics and videos of the new fish and corals you have added.

How deep is the shallow area? and is it connected to the main pool so that fish can do into both areas if they want?

I would be interested to see where, what, and how you are creating flow inside of the display tank.

Very nice, peaceful too I imagine.
