2000 Gallon Reef Pool

An truly inspirational tank. And I think it could only be made in china today. Great optimism they have over there. Like Britain in the 19th century or the US in the 1950/60s. People are doing great business over there, and funding projects like this, unlike the poor credit crunch west.

Ps this is not political comment. Heaven forbid. Just a positive thought on a great tank.

I planed a sunshine tank but feel to hard to make with my 5th floor apartment .....

when I can afford a villa I must have a pool like this.

Do you have any extra light supplement for this pool ? Sunshine in Beijing is not powerfull enough I think.

And I saw a set of sunshine reflector in an Australia TV program that inspired me quite.

you should set some reflectors to get more sunshine. That is more economic and more importantly , enviromental.

Nice try, I will get one when Im over maybe 60 and retired.

Cool !

Thanks, now we have four 400W metal halide (XM 10000K) as supplement, sunshine in Beijing in winter is not powerfull enough , but we do not know how about it in summer.

The entire house is build with the pool, the location and direction is design to maximize the usage of sunshine, so I think reflectors could not help much for this setup.

Some corals and fishs have been added....

My friend(The owner)is adjusting location of some corals that newly introduced... There are four DIY reflectors for metal halides, but it is a temporary setup build by steel for testing, and rust a lot, finally it will be replaced with reflectors made by aluminum. The reflectors could move by hand with pulley+track.

I don't think the tank is big enough for four tangs. Where's the tang police? :-)

Hmmm. I wonder if the wife will let me convert the backyard inground pool into a reef tank....

You are right, it's not a tank, definiatly a pool. do you run into any problems with alge brooms with the natural sunlight.

It is looking wonderful. How deep is the sand bed for the reef portion?

Thx,

Dave.M

The deep of sand bed is various, the bottom of the pool is slope, so even the sand bed is looks like flat, actually the deep of sand bed close to the side of glass is about 8 to 12 inch, the deep of other side is about 2 inch.

Here are some fishs ready to add into the pool, but we will wait for some time to introduce more fish into pool except Tangs, we do not want to feed too much in this phase.

Emperor Angelfish pair (they have been keep in tank over five years)

Five Moorish Idol... it was said it is possible to keep these fish in big aquarium with small schools.

Some other "old" fishs... this copperband butterflyfish has been keep in tank over seven years, this time we hope we could give it a "deluxe" house :-)

This seems unusual. Would you please explain the reasoning for the design of the sand bed this way?

Thx,
