2000 Gallon Reef Pool

Impressive, thanks for showing us. How to heat this pool in Beijing cold winter time? probably it's the most cost of running this pool I guess?
Sorry if it's being answered before.

Well it is official. I will sell one of my children and the wife and use the money to set one of these up.

Except I may not get much for the wife:frog:

to Acrotrdco : Thanks, some of the pics were taken by DSLR, others were taken by iPhone... I feel it is difficult to take an ideal photo for this pool, especially from the "Tank View" I think I need try more with DSLR for this pool :P

For the blue light, I think the only way is add some 20K Metal Halide, but for now on the highest priority is the PAR so the SPS could grow as fast as possible.

to lamontcarter : it is low ion glass, thickness is 19mm. actually I feel 19mm is not enough for this, but the engineer for construction said it is safety.

to sunsetSPS: The heating system for the pool is connected with heating system for the house with hot water, and it is not very costly, the glass house covered pool will also be helpful. I think the most cost of running this pool is still for electric power if finally we need many Metal Halide for supplement on lighting.

First, I'm very impressed by the look. It's stunning. I do have a few questions on the stocking. The sea cucumbers, sand sifting stars and gobies don't really look like they have a whole lot of sand to work on. How much is in there?

Second, where is the flow coming from in that tank? Is it incredibly well hidden or non-existent? :)

Again, great tank!

Love the concept.

Was this pool built for this purpose or was it converted from an existing feature?

Any chance you could go into detail on the equipment room?

Good work and good luck on the progression of this tank. Thanks for sharing with us.

This is just amazing! There is something so freeing about looking at those tangs have all of that room to zoom around the pool. It must be very relaxing to sit infront of the pool and day dream. :) Good job to the owner and to you for helping! :D

That's a Verry unique setup it will be amazing to watch this tank develope also can you go into detail about your filtration.

Gotta say I love it. Was planned/built for over a year before you took pictures (No offense to those who do go through the long drawn out build phase posts), so we get somewhat instant gratification.

Always something I wanted to do, however the thought of the power used on heating that system just gives me shivers.. I know you say it doesn't cost very much, but I could imagine building the whole thing then getting a huge sticker shock on my electricity bill after the first month of it on. Not to mention doing water changes on a system that large has to be a pain in the butt, at least here it would be.

I am curious on specifics of equipment, like pumps and skimmer, I know you said early you use a big bubble magus, custom made big? Or do they make stock skimmers that large? Although your pumps might be a brand that isn't available in the US, would be nice to try out those really large Tunze models on something that large though.

Kind of scary tank with those sea cucumbers which look huge in the tank, and the tangs which look absolutely tiny, gives me nightmares thinking about them :D But all to help keep the tank clean I guess. I do wonder if you could possibly get a larger ecosystem to help offset the need for water changes.

i've always wondered if someone out there would ever consider making a reef in their swimming pool.. you sir have answered my question...

What can I say that has not already been said. This is simply amazing though. My question is, How did you get away with this? lol I was bairly able to sneak in my 125g tank into my house without my ol-ladie going nuts. lol Great build. Excited to see its progres.

Amazing. I'm interested to see how the school of idols do. I'm guessing they will pair off if anything.

Sent from my Droid Incredible.

Awesome pool! When I come to China can I come and visit? :D Would love to see a pic of your equipment room. Also, wheres the frag racks going? lol, J/K.
