Aquarium 8'X2'X2' (with built in wet/dry 19" deep)
4- Arctic-T247 Ocean Revive LEDS
DIY algae turf scrubber
2- Jebao PP-20 pumps for circulation
Sicce 5.0 return pump, 1- 1" return Y at 2- 3/4" braided flex.
Using the 2 pumps in the original wet/dry for additional circulation
2- chinese 14W LEDs for algae scrubber.
Bubble Magus Curve 9 Skimmer
55G sump with DIY baffles and filter sock chambers
DIY stand
4- Overflows

This build has not been tested yet and still requires: dosing pump, aquarium controller, ATO, and some other refinements before it gets water. The rock is dry rock found on the beach. It's been super glued and planned for ascetics and future coral growth. Going with "less is more" on the rock, even though I have twice as much as needed for the display. I plan to maybe get some "live wet rock" to put in the sump if I feel safe with the "hitch hiker threat". It will also have a 1-2" dry sand bed. I will probably get some live sand from the beach to feed bacteria in the sump. I would use beach live sand for the DT but it is very tan where I live and I prefer the look of white sand under lights.

Please advise me with your opinions and recommendations.

For the algae scrubber, I have a different design, which can't really be seen here. I use 2 different algae mats, with lights that will be placed on each side. One screen can be cleaned, and the bleed through light will aid the other screen. This is a down flow design fed from one of the overflows. I will address this in future posts once it's tested. It has mods that will assist water flow, the efficiency and control of normal down flow scrubbers.

Thanks allactiondan. I'll get those up when I get back to my computer. I wanted to keep track of a cut list and the specifics of the bracing but I didn't keep firm track of it as it was modified a little as I built it.

Damn, I wish I could walk along HI's beaches and collect rock and use it. How nice. Will you be able to catch your own fish too? That would be awesome.

I was thinking about a fourth T247 like you for my 8' but I find 3 work well enough for me, for now. Cant wait to see yours set up!

I was just gonna go with 3 lights but shipping is super expensive now so I was able to get a 4th for not much more and figured I may need it. Tyler at Addictive Aquaculture was super cool to deal with on the lighting. Would highly recommend him. I'll be able to get some stuff crabs, snails, some select fish, but the reefs on my island are in pretty bad shape from years of pineapple and suger cane farming and also fertilizer/chemicals from golf courses.

Wait, I just picked up on this, and the first post said future coral growth... I thought it was illegal to own corals in Hawaii unless you had some super hard to obtain research permits? (or does the HI stand for someplace else)
