Sorry to but in here but a 92 Oceanic hardly needs that foam support like a large tank does. The purpose of the foam on a tank say 120 gal or larger is to prevent the weight of the structure from flexing or bowing the bottom glass over time. Its an Insurance policy against the edges being the only support of the bottom, Also your trusting silicone which inheritally has the properties of rubber to allow for give in temperature changes and can lead to bowing also. On generic stands a piece of plywood under a smaller tank is sufficent. Also there is very many differnt variations of foam to consider. The larger tanks should and most will agree be set on the Pink hard stryofoam which is very dense and gives little under high pressure loads. Acrylic is actually worse I hear than glass and when it goes it pops a whole pane out and dumps it load all at once while glass tends to crack and leak out alittle slower but who cares how it leaks if its your floor!Originally posted by RobbyG
No Rich I have never used Hard Foam. I am surprised that hard foam only sinks 1/64" but what size tank are you talking about?
I can only go by what the guy at Oceanic said and he seemed pretty stern in saying that I should not use Foam under the tank.
