Members and non-members alike as you all know we are coming upon a new year which means renewal of memberships or maybe the first time sign up for soom. So what is being laid out here is the plan for 2011. As we all know there have been concerns that the club may or may not be meeting every ones needs with the membership fee of $20. So listed below will be some of the changes that are going to happen for 2011. I hope that these proposals will satisfy some of the concerns.
1.) Club members dues will be reduced from $20 to $10 bucks. In an answer to the question that is going to come what about half years. The fee is still $10 regardless of when you join. This makes it easier to manage for everyone involved and the benefits are well worth $10 bucks.
2.) Since we don't need any money for the club we will be robbing the clubs hoards of money going into 2011 to hopefully setup some club equipment. Since we have noticed that we have pockets of members in areas like Nashville, Spring Hill, Murfreesboro. These areas are probably the most highly concentrated and to make things easier and usable to all members what we are proposing to do is purchase 3 sets of equipment a set for each area. Maybe a par meter and two other key pieces of equipment for each region. I am going to ask for ideas for those other pieces of club equipment. I am also going to ask that members be on the look out for equipment that we can purchase at a good price since this stuff costs money and to do 3 sets its going to get expensive.
3.) Bill actually had a very good idea in one of his recent posts on here. A % of the clubs money should go directly back to members in some fashion. So here is a way that some of the money will be used in 2011 that i can say for sure regardless of who the board is. When we have a meeting at a local fish store it cost the club. The local stores do the bulk of the donating when they host but we still purchase things to be raffled and given away. So at least 600 of the clubs money would need to be set aside for that. We also will need a 1000 every year to have a swap. What i would also like to see happen is a club dinner/lunch when a new board takes office. With all members and board present. That would run another 600 bucks probably.
So you see when we get into reducing these fees, although we have money in the bank now, there will come a point that the money will get very tight and less will be able to be provided to the members. Granted the swap can pay for its self but in order to do the other things throughout the year we would need to at least sign up 120 members. And as it stands right now we only have about 70. So we need to gain some new members.
4.) Going away in 2011 will be the raffle prizes for members that don't come to meetings. If you are not present at a meeting then you don't get in the raffle. This just encourages people to not participate and still be rewarded. The fact is everyone in the club is a valuable member regardless of experience and has something to bring to the club meetings. So why would you not want to come and participate in a meeting by your club.
5.) Digital member cards . If you lose it you can print it out yourself to replace it. Yes I know I have been very lacking in this part mainly because I can not even tell you where my card is and don't carry it with me. Plus the stores have an updated members list they can look at if you tell them you are a member. In this day and age with email why do we need to send one through the mail. Plus budget cut backs on stamps, envelopes, and the lamenating paper.
6.)Members will not be charged for a table at the swap. The swap is put on for the benefit of the club and that is one of the perks of being a member.
Guys that's the best we have for now. I am sure this is going to make some mad and some happy. We cannot make everyone happy we really just want to have a club that is a benefit to its members. I hope that these steps are taken as an effort to do that and that the members understand why these things are being done. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me personally.
