I also have the sponge in my 110..how often do you rinse yours? I rinse it once a week with every water change but feel bad when i see pods getting washed away :( I will be doing the refugium mod next week..still loving the tank :D

I do the same as you. I take mine out and clean them every time i do a water change.....

Looks like the tank is in your bedroom. Are the filters loud? I was thinking about switching my 25g to a 29g Tall but someone told me that light may not penetrate down to the sandbed if I go for a tall and I need MH. Now that I see this set up, I'm thinking about going 29g Long if space permits...otherwise its 20g Long!

The tank is in my bedroom, right next to my bed. The filters are really not loud at all. I like 20g long tanks because of their shallow depth. The T-5's i'm running also work really well in this type of tank setup. Plus the are a lot cheeper than MHL and you don't have the heat that you do with MHL fixtures. Good Luck

Here is a pic of the AC110 setup

And here is what I was talking about with the sponge piece.

I'll take pics of the lights later.

Are those to heaters in side the AC110???

Never mind, I need to learn how to read better! :( Anyways are those 50w heaters? Also, I assume you had to mod the AC110 a little to fit the heaters right.

I meant to ask you, what heater do you have in the filter? I bought a 75w stealth but realized its far too big to put in the filter.

You can use PC's in a 29 gallon. I did for 2 years before I switched over to MH's. I was using 130w of PC lighting...

hey LP,

Do you think using 2 - AC 70's would be okay? Or would you still recommend using 2 - AC 110's?

You could use 2 AC 70's if you wanted, but you would have to have some sort of powerhead in the tank i think. I just like the 2 AC 110's because they fit almost the entire length of the tank. And great flow so no need for a powerhead inside the tank......But it's really up to you.
