20k metal halide bulb

Regular magnetic ballasts will drive any bulb as long as the bulb is not a pulse start; for that, the proper ballast must have a starter (pulse), commonly known as HQI wbich I believe is a trademark, the proper name for any HQI bulb would be Double Ended.

Got three cords, just need one more mogul. Send me your address by pm.
Gentlemans pact, I’ll mail you the ballasts and cords and after you’ll just send me the postage.

Can't get enough of this MH. Love it.

Which bulb is that 20k? I didn't think magnetic ballasts could drive 20ks.

How is the blue in RL? How blue is it?
If you go with the radium 20 K's, the magnetic hqi ballast type M80 is the best way to do it. I was not able to get m58 type ballast to fire the radiums reliably

Gotcha Mario. Able to find those cords by chance.

I've got one mongol base. I know I've missed some of your conversation but I can send it to you same deal as Mario

What lamps and ballast are you using?

Phoenix are supposed to cast a blue-ish crisp light where as the lower K tend to lean towards a 10K look but very crisp white, ie Giessemann 12k, Aqualine/AquaMedic 12k.
You still can find some DE Aqualine 20K for a very low price; I have some but they are CW(10k)
As in any bulb, the higher the Kelvin, the lower the PAR? Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

THE AB SE lamps can still be found new/ old stock marketed as 13K. They are very white and what I am running right now. They are rather cheep now $25/lamp as opposed to the $125 I was paying in the past. They are very white and extreamly bright. They do take almost 2 weeks to break in for which time they look rather yellow. They really look amazing when supplemented with T5HO blue. They run very well on M58 ballests.

The lower the kelvin the brighter the lamp and the higher the PAR but lower the PUR in general.

I'll snap a FTS of my tank under them with and without T5 supplementals later to juxtapose to my FTS under radium B I posted earlier.

Depends on the WB setting on your camera but not really 20K.

20K designation is somewhat subjective. More of marketing. A radium "œ20K" is actually designated radium "œB" for blue, hobbiests just call it 20k

This is my tank on magnetic M80 with radium B lamps several months back.

10K AB on M80 magnetic (I think perhaps I should try them on a M58 electronic or magnetic and see if they become bluer)
