Just a few weeks ago, I closed on a house. Of course as we were looking for houses, I was always thinking of where can I put a tank. The house I found has a floor plan something like this:

These are the images of the individual areas:

I am going to have the display where the piano is currently sitting and a fish-room on the wall behind that. The deal with my wife is that I can have the fish-room if The area can be shared as a laundry room as well. The drawback is that I loose the dining room and will be closing off the kitchen. to natural light. The upside is that I have a large area with water already present and we can block out laundry noise from the rest of the house!

I will be framing in the wall today and will hang drywall next week.

Will update soon with the progress and planned tank info.

You will also want to prevent all those fake "fragrances" from the laundry room getting into your water. Water absorbs pollutants like that with great alacrity.

Dave, I haven't thought of fragrances. How do you suggest I prevent this? The garage is opposite the washer and dryer. Would a bathroom style vent be enough, or would there have to be something more?

Ace, there isn't much room between the the window the doorway into the kitchen. If that wall was a little longer I would love that idea.
