210 gallon peninsula (72x24x29)

Finally had some time. I got almost everything painted. The only thing I have to paint now is the back side of the lower panels. The paint I used was RUST-OLEUM TOPSIDE.

Before

After

Very nice.. Thanks for the update. I was getting ready to worry.

Question though,

Why black?

black looks killer, my question is why green on that in wall tank, j/k

after all the custom sizes ive messed with, i always come back to a 210g with those same dimensions.

every time i go to san antonio,tx to lfs, i always stare for a while at a 210 g empty tank they have set up and say," some day, some day"

This is going to be a slow build, I apologize for that. I didn't warn that before. I hate waiting for updates on builds I excited about. There was only a handful of colors in this paint and I was torn between white and black. Not sure exactly why I went with the black if I had ordered it a different day it might have been white. I am very happy with how it looks in black, no regrets about it.

Ha Ha! My wife said the same thing. The next picture you see will different color walls. That is what I am working on right now. For some reason it looked better in my head. If you don't like the new color at least I will be able to blame it on my wife. :lmao:

This looks absolutely wonderful. From the photos, is the front of the stand and canopy completely removeable? Do you have any basic plans that you could share? Thanks for sharing.

PS-- I'm just getting back into the "hobby" after several years off/ starting out with my 210 and some basic equipment.

Yes the stand just sits together. The cabinet after the tank is 2ft wide to allow for a very large skimmer. I put the shelf at 36inches now but it could be moved with 4 screws or removed. The other main thing I wanted was a lot of room above the tank so I could fit any lighting I want.

None of my plans are set in stone until the equipment is purchased. But here are my plans.

37 gallon ATO (20x18x24) with tunze osmolator

75 gallon 4 section sump (skimmer-frag-refugium-return)

reef octopus sro 3000

60" ati 8 bulb

2 60" reef bright led blue

2 diablo DC 5500 return pumps ( incase of pump failure or need to clean I should always have one online.)

2 tunze stream 6105

2 tunze stream 6065

What I would change if it were my build...

- Ditch the ati 8 bulb and run two reefbreeder photon32's.

- Ditch the tunze's and get jebao wp40's

- Add a reef angel controller

I have used T5 since day one (6 bulb tek over current 150) with good results. I hear of a lot of people who have good results with LED but I also hear of a lot of bad results. Lights will be the last thing I get so I have some time to do research. I have never herd of the Photon, but I took a quick look and it does look good.

I am using a full Apex right now and am very happy with it, so I will be moving it over when ready. Also already been running the Tunze osmolator and one 6105 for over two years with no problems. I am kind of partial to my Tunze pumps, but I will defiantly do some research.

Thanks for the input. The nice thing about a slow build is I really get to think about things step by step and I have time to consider other options.

I ordered the 37 ATO tank and the 75 gallon sump today so that is now set in stone,

Hey Brett05jeep, I'm currently building a 210 as well and I'm in the process of skirting which is intended to be removable.

If interested the thread is located here:

To my question regarding your stand, what stain and gloss you gonna use on your built?
I'm currently planning to use Minwax Mahagoni but not sure which final level of gloss to use.

Would be great to know what you do.

THX

Sorry but I was not the one who built the stand or stained it. All I did was paint the inside and add a shelf.

Checked out your build and it is very nice. I really like the skirting you are doing. I will be following your build as well.

Thx, takes a lot of time when not a professional.
I think it's time for an updated picture from your build.
Any progress?
Dump some pictures. You will not regret it later when everything is done and you can look at the "old days",lol.

Yes it does take a lot of time. It has already been about two months since I posted any pictures. I have not made much progress. The only thing I have done to the stand is add some wood and hinges to hold the canopy opening open and put the 37 gallon ato tank in. The sump is almost done. Few more things to silicone and I can wet test it. As long as that works out I wont have to cut everything out and start over.

Looks really good
I am in the process of planing a 72x30x30 peninsula also I am getting really excited after seeing your build

I am also in the process of the this size tank also. All I am doing in waiting for the tank, lights, pumps, and plumbing :)

Following along
