My Daddy Bangaii just spit babies last nt. I took some of them from the urchin & netted some from all over the place. There are 22 of them now in a breeder.
I fed frozen rotifers this morn. till I can get to the LFS.
A few mo. ago I kept 8 alive for 8 days on cyclopeeze. I then got frozen rotifers & BBS, but I may have been too late.
Going to LFS today. Will frozen rotifers work??
Should I get something to hatch BBS?? Do they need selcon??

newly hatched brine shrimp will not need selcon, when hatched they are still eating on their egg yoke, sacks, whatever they have on em, but after 24 hours, you would need to soak em in selcon for added nutrition. Rotifers are going to be way to small for these guys. Definatly get the brine shrimp and keep working with the cyclopeeze as well. Best of luck and try and get some pictures posted for us, nothing like a good quality photo of baby fish! :D

Thanks so much Papagimp. I'll try to get a pic up today. Going to LFS to get BBS & meds for a sick seahorse.
I'll take any breeding advise you have.

Have you gotten youself a turkey baster yet :D. I found them to be indespensable when trying to catch a bunch of baby bangaii's out of a spikey urchin. Dollar stores sells a good one with a nice wide mouth on it, I can suck up about 10 babies at a time. Also, feed that male very well after he releases, I had a problem with my female ready to spawn the moment a clutch had hatched and was released, the male would usually abort about every other clutch becaue he did not have sufficient time to recoupe after his month long fast. I've seen males take a day or two after releasing to start eating again, but mine always went straight for food afterwards, he was hungry! And I'm not sure if it really did any good or not, but I always tried to get the female bangaii nice and stuffed after I saw that the eggs had hatched. I knew a release would be coming soon, and nobody in my tank was as efficient at eating baby bangaii's than mommy bangaii. If she's well fed and stuffed, common sense would tell me that I'd experience less losses that way, but I've yet to actually put it to the test, it certainly couldn't hurt.

Hey Papagimp,
Just planted some BBS. Hope they'll be blooming by tomorrow.
Posted pics in my gallery. Can't figure out how to post on the post!!!

I've been feeding a mixture of live baby brine shrimp, rotifers, and copepods. I fed a lot and they are pigs and eat everything. They have real fat bellies though. It seems to be working nicely so far and they seem to have grown a lot. They are 4 days old.

Hey that is great. I tried to do a recount, & looks like I count sometimes 27 , sometimes 31. They all look alike.
Got some BBS started today. Hope they hatch tomorrow. Aren't they the cutest. Hope they all make it.
Congrats!

bbs should start hatching within 24hrs, personally I use one of the hatcheries from petsmart for the hatching process and then transfer them to the culture bottle, hatching water gets fouled something awful.

Good luck with the counting, lol, it's not always easy. I count mine as I'm catching and moving them, cause I know one there all together, I ain't gunna get a solid number figured out. (and I gave up naming them all after the first batch I had, :D )
