Thanks RParker, do you have a thread of your build that I can checkout?

Cooper, it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all!!

I don't, I need to start one here on RC.. Maybe I'll get around to it tonight.

Looks sweet. Starphire tank correct? How did they do the teeth for the external overflow? Is it just an Acrylic piece glue/siliconed on?

Today I received my Sea Hare to help eat some macro I have in one of my other tanks. My crab's, and snail's all arrived safe and sound. But bad news, one of my 7 Blue Reef Chromis didn't make the trip, the rest are in quarantine for the next month.
It's nice to be putting living creatures on my shopping lists finally.
I will post some pics this weekend when I get around to doing it.

Sad news today, I woke up this morning and I only had 5 Chromis. I searched everywhere for the sixth one but couldn't find it anywhere. I don't know where they go but that's the second fish that has just vanished in the last 6 months.

Sorry to hear about your fish loss...

Chromis have a habit of killing each other off, if you have a good clean up crew they probably took care of it before you noticed it was missing.

More bad news, I woke up today and yet another Chromis is dead. I bought 7 and now only have 4. Also my Urchin was found with 5 snail shells on its back this morning, so he's having fun killing my new snails. I had to laugh about that one.
Still waiting for the cleanup crew to catch up with the algae before I put in fish. My skimmer doesn't seem to be skimming anything but water.

Robb, I agree, I've been trying to get rid of my hair algae bloom before I posted more pics. I've been doing aggressive water changes, so I'm hoping that it clears soon. I've ordered a phosphate test kit because I feel that maybe my RO water might be causing some phosphates to get into the aquarium. I can't see anywhere else that I am introducing nutrients for the algae.
My skimmer is now dialed in, but doesn't seem to be pulling a lot of skimmate. I have a PM Bullet 3 powered by a Panworld 150. I've had it dialed in for a week now, and still am not happy with the skimmate, so that might have something to do with the hair algae.
My water changes don't seem to be having an effect, but I will keep them up.

I finally received my sylenoids from Auto Top Off, so I can hook up my Kalk reactor for top up water. After that is done, my setup will be complete.

Can you shut off lights for a few days to help get ahead of the algae? Also, have you considered adding a sea hare (Dolabella sp)? I found this to be most effective with hair algae.

I have the lights down to 4 hours per day now. I did buy a sea hare, but he is in one of my other tanks handling a calurpa problem first. When he has that under control I will move him.

At this time, I am still blaming my skimmer until I can check my RO water.

Psyire, I am running 2 2little fishes phosban reactors, the first one has carbon and the second has Rowaphos.
The instructions told me to run a small amount of water through them, but I am wondering if I am not running enough through, so I will up the amount of water I am pumping through.

If you don't have any corals in there now, would suggest daily scrubbing those GHA areas with a toothbrush and change your filter socks daily (wash them in HOT water to kill those HA spores) and switch off your lights for a week. And of course your cleaning crew as well to take care of the rest.... Works wonders for me :)
