I am purchasing a 225 gal tank for my recently purchased home. I am constructing a new stand to match the décor and keep my wife happy.
Is this a good start as for a idea?
Construct it with either 2x6 or 2x8s with the dimensions of 72"L x 24"W with either 2x4 or 2x6 supports vertically every 18 inches as well as supports horizontally every 18 inches. I am going to fasten it all together with carriage bolts and use some type of paneling or plywood with stain for the exterior with the choose coming from the wife for her happiness. I am also considering some type of crown molding or decorative molding to hid the bottom frame of the tank.
I would rather want it over kill then under as far as strength. Also I have read to not use PF timber, not sure why?
