225 gal walk-around starphire from Miracles

I very recently moved into a new home, and with it, planned on a new tank for our open floor plan. This month's (Reefkeeper2) TOTM was my inspiration for my new tank. I enjoyed following any information/threads about his wonderful 4-sided tank.

For me the most challenging issues with a tank that sits in the middle of a room is: How to light it so it looks good and can support LPS/SPS corals. Tank flow. Not showing the cords or plumbing.

Tank:
225 gallon, 3/4" rimless tank (4 corner triangles/starphire) from Miracles in Glass
4 viewable sides, 4 sides starphire glass
2 island overflows with 2 (2")durso style drains
2 (1") external (outside overflow to keep size down) returns
2 (2")intakes for CL's;
Steel stand , Maple skirting by Miracles

Equipment:
(2) OM 4 ways, (2) Snapper Gold pumps
Basement sump (60gal acrylic) with ATO
Tarpon return pump
BM250 (at this time)
Neptune ACjr
Spectrapure RO/DI 90gpd unit
I've decided to leave off my chiller with the basement sump/open aquarium
2part solution with mg

Lighting:
Giesemann 6' Spectra in silver
4x80W Giesemann megachrome actinics
3x250W Giesmann megachrome SE MH

I'm getting very close (fingers crossed for before Christmas) to getting the tank to finish-up the CL's.
My current tank (200gallon RR Oceanic)is still at my "old" house (close by) and I've been going back and forth for about 6 weeks trying to keep that tank stable - which is a bit challenging when you're not living there!

Let me say, that I'm relying on my husband, longtime LFS owner, and a neighbor who is very good with electrical issues, for help in getting the technical things done. I'm very proficient with maintenance and general care of my current tank, but need help with larger issues that come up.
In the months of planning I have realized that the custom tanks have their own set of problems since there is no "stock" part for much of it.
I've spent numerous hours on the phone with Derek (Miracles) and Paul (OM) who have been nothing but patient with me throughout!

I can't share too much without pictures, so i will work on that - need to read the help section on posting pics on RC, or ask my son for help.

I've gotten some help, and i hope the pictures come through...

This is the basement flooring that was "doubled-up" during house construction. There are six floor support beams that are reinforced, and even though the tank is not against a wall it partially sits upon a main beam of the house, and one lolly column is under a portion of the tank.

Basement sump area: sink, and areas for ro/di water storage and sump/return pump platform (later i'll add a picture of it with equipment)

I forgot to mention the dimensions of the tank: 72"x30"x24" and i'm glad I went with this size as it doesn't overtake the house, and room , and is still manegeable for me to maintain.

I've done a fair amount of waiting as the project progressed. It took a couple of months for the Spectra to arrive (and then i found out it was in black instead of silver) then I had some bulb issues, and that seemed to take forever to resolve!

Here's a picture of the light suspended from the area above that is like a catwalk to the second floor and facing the front door:

At the last minute we decided to have the tank delivered to my husband's office (construction co.) where there would be equipment available to take it off the truck.
They put the tank onto a pick-up truck, and the stand went onto a small trailer. Since we live only a few miles away, no one was worried about the drive to the house.

Six men moved the tank and stand in. They used straps (which worked really well) and had only 3 suction cup to lift the aquarium up and over the lip of the stand. I was worried that someone's finger would be left behind!
It was definitely a beast to move. I couldn't look and waited on the front porch while they brought the tank itself in.

(having trouble getting the next set of pics up, but will try again...)

VERY nice. Looks really clean so far. Like the dimensions too.

Thanks, I really wanted the look of "understated elegance," of the tank and stand in relation to the space, and i think i've accomplished that.

Stand arriving. We had the crate shipped to my husband's office (with equipment to move the crate) and then the guys brought the tank and stand over on a pick-up and trailer.
It took six guys to move the tank and stand into the house, and we needed all hands as i they said it was an absolute "bear" to move.

Getting the tank onto the stand proved to be the most challenging .
We had 3 suction cups, so only 3 guys had 1 each, but it all worked out in the end.

Here the tank is on the floor and waiting to be lifted. I couldn't stand to watch it going on for fear of squished fingers as it had to go up and over the lip.

Whew! The tank's on the stand, and took some slight adjustments with the leveling feet, and is sitting on the plywood and styrofoam base that i had pre-cut from the manufacturer.

Two of the bulkhead holes were not perfectly lined-up to the actual holes, but we got lucky and the guys were able to cut the styrofoam enough to accommodate the bulkheads.
For all those people who move and build a new tank at the same time: it's crazy! There are things that i would "do over," if i had the chance, but it was important to get things done, rather than be put under more pressure with time constraints. The biggest time constraint was going back and forth to my old house for the past 7 weeks, taking care of my 200 gal tank, and trying not to let things deteriorate as i wasn't around to observe.

There are 4 corner triangles (about 1/2") that Miracles used (i chose over eurobracing) 3/4" glass all around. I'm glad to say that the triangles are hardly noticeable, and it will be easier for me to clean the tank also.

very nice

That lighting fixture is incredible

It is very sleek, and I'm looking forward to when it will be lighting up the tank - as now it's about 21" away from the water.
I need to read-up on just how long to acclimate my corals.
