They help a ton. How many adjustable feet are on the stand?
I want to mention that the adjustable feet made leveling the tank a breeze. On my old 7' Oceanic it was tough because the oak stand sat directly onto the floor, so shims were the only way to go and made it very difficult.

You've done an excellent job designing and planning. That is going to be a very elegant and classy installation. You definitely have my attention ...

Do you or your family have any issues with the light from the canopy? I always wanted to do an open top, but am concerned about light blinding my kids or house guests.

Any issues?

Thank you. I did the best i could, but i know that issues will creep up. I'm having issues with my lighting/ballasts, so it's a work in progress to get it running smoothly.

I'm no expert (by any means) but just reading the posts on RC really helps. I should join the local NJ reef club, i can just imagine how much great give-and-take goes on. IMO if you can see an application (or next best thing pictures online) it takes a lot of the unknowns out for me. I'm not mechanically/electrically inclined, but am not afraid to ask for help.

It's acutually better than anticipated. This tank straddles our great room (with large t.v. - set into a built-in) and main hall of the open floor plan. It's not annoying at 20 inches, so when the fixture is brought down to 12" or so, it will only get better. My tank is 30" wide and the fixture is 17" wide so all the light will get concentrated into the tank.
I'll take pic's when the light gets closer to the tank so you can see.

i have the same skimmer mine is a BM250 and the pumps are sometimes finaky. But as long as they start up and keep running them they are good. they pull in a lot of air. Its a good skimmer when you get used to it. ive had mine for close to a year now. i ran it for about a year in 6 inches of water and had a hard time tunning it sometimes. i increased the height to 8 inches and wow i got a better foam than i had before.

AWESOME tank I love it when you can see all 4 sides of a tank it goes good with your house in that spot. Great stand they realy did a nice job.more pics please.

The skimmer's settling-in again after the move/new tank set-up, and I'm getting some better foam.
IA if they start up, the pumps run well.
I think what i like least about the BM250 is the connection between the skimmer and pumps. I'm pretty careful around it, but it's still too easy to knock a pump off, and combine that with them not being reliable on re-starting, it bugs me to no end!

Thank you :) I'll see if i can get some more pic's up soon.

beautiful tank. I really like the center overflows. If I had as much room as you I would have done the same on my tank. Keep up the good work.

You have built a truly awesome display. I really like it. I lke the way you built the shelf in for the sump. Makes maintenance a whole lot better. Absolutely beautiful setup.

Anyone planning on building a new tank, I'd say go for the starphire glass, it's amazing just how clear it is. Of course acrylic makes a lot of sense when going really big, but for my new tank, I'm really impressed with the clarity.

Keeping-up with cleaning the 4 sides will be important with this tank. I've afraid to use the magnet cleaner, and have found a good Tetra cleaner that should help get along the sand line without damage.

As you can see from the above photo, the "hole in the wall" isn't quite done yet, as one of the MH ballasts isn't working. We've got an ac intake vent that will cover the hole, and we just added another vent to create better air flow. If needed I'll add a fan, but am checking the temp.

Beautiful summer6! Great build thread. I loved all the pics, thanks for posting them! If I could have my dream tank that's what it would be.
