225g Caulerpa tank.

Might want to do some research on caluerpa. It contains a toxin called caluerpine ( I believe that is the name of it ). A fish eating a steady diet of caluerpa can die from the toxin.

That's why you don't want it going "sexual" on you. When it does, those toxins are released into the water.

There are WAY better macros to use for nutrient export.

Although I don't want to run any type of GFO, at this point I have to. Once I get this under control, I'm going to redo the sump so to keep the Macro from finding it's way into the main display.

What the heck is your reasoning behind not wanting to run GFO ?!

To me that is like saying, "Yeah I don't want to put any gas in my car if I don't have to." You have a problem that needs to be solved but it sounds like you are afraid of the cure or misunderstand it.

Also, the ONLY macro you should run in your sump is Chaeto.
I think the reasons are more than obvious.

Also, if the rabbit fish stayed blotchy the whole time and "colored up" it was stressed out. That species will color change quite often if everything is relaxed.

The also MAJORLY starve rabbit fish before shipping and the intestinal damage will be beyond repair or recouping. Good luck on the next one, that variety is one of my favorites.

1) My reason for NOT running it may be due to misunderstanding it?? I've research common GFO media and noticed that in all cases with any brand there are down sides. While not each case was a huge down side, If I can use something of nature to combat phosphates then why not?? Although todays research has suggested that using a smaller amount then noted may be the cure for the down sides of GFO (bleaching coral, stunt growth of coral, tinted water, PH flucation, ect...)

2) As for the fish, I had to have it taken out of the store's tank right away due to some kid pounding on the glass:mad2: I did get it to eat before buying it. It color changed non-stop once in my tank, if I walked by, it would blotch up, when I fed it would blotch. It did eat at first & and even ate the Grape & fern somewhat. But it stayed hidden most of the time and that's where I found it dead. It never did much but hide. I would agree with your thought of internal damage, due to the cleaner wrass was bought on the same day from MS and he's still alive and eating. This was a "GOLDSPOTTED" and NOT an "ORANGESPOTTED" as the latter has an "Orange spot at the base of the tail with spot like pattern's where this one had Gold patches/spot's not uniformed through out & no spot at the base of the tail. But I as you know am no expert, just a local hobbiest. :D

Because there is no natural cure for your algae.
(that is readily available or would survive in our tanks)

That is exactly the reason they are having a problem with caulerpa in the Mediterranean, the coast of Australia especially the bays, and California.

How much more "natural" can you get than GFO ?!
It's not a man made synthetic wonder drug, it's almost as basic as basic chemistry can get.

The "side effects" you listed were for people who went with too much too fast AND already had craptastic water parameters to begin with.

Any item can become a dangerous in the hands of a fool.

Well I tested all the water parm's and came up good, Then had MS test it as well and they came up with the same parm's as I did. So water parm's are all in check (other than phosphate, I didn't check that neither did they, I've read from Randy Harley that you can't test completly for it & beings I'm poor right now spending dough on something that may or may not work is out of the question for now) so I don't think I have "craptastic" water. So in a week or two I'm going to get the stuff GFO from

www.bulkreefsupply.com and start running a very small amount of it. That together with the Rabbit I'm hoping will get it undercontrol. It will be a long slow process but I believe it will work.

I couldn't agree more.

I see some manual removal in your future Brother. The roots will embed themselves in the rock...you can find a runner and start pulling. You will be amazed at how easily you can pull it off. The runners are stronger than the roots. It may take several days to pull it out but you can. Pull from the oldest growth to the newest growth.

   these pic's are after manual Removal..   :D

Those pics are just phase one of manual removal. It may take several 30 packs to get it all out. :D

30 pack with Stu will last him 20 days.. so he should only need 1 30 pack.. any more than a beer and a half he forgets were the bathroom is... Oh wait..... that was Jager Bombs!! Hmmm Don't that sound good Stu.. Lots of Jager Bombs!!!

Uhhh no, it was not Jager bombs to cause him to forget where the bathroom was, it was just beer and shots of crown, nothing to special.

And getting him up off his bum to remove this by hand!!! Are you out of your mind!!! He tore into this weekend and pulled maybe 5 or 6 handfuls off took one rock out and went to the bathroom and gave up. His claim is, it is a lost cause with this rabbit fish.

For those of you who don't know, he wants the easy way in everything he does or it is no go with him. Anything that requires "work" in his opinion is never gonna happen!! LOL

Lonnie you should know this, he still has a unfinished stand, now 1 year later. You were not here to keep him motivated now it will never get finished ;)

Ignore the last 2 post please, The She-Devil wife of mine found RC up and still logged in. She tells lies I assure you :o .

No. Jager-anything sounds like a big phat NO. Nope. I'm sticking to what I know best, NO beer, NO Jager, No anything but whiskeys & Tom Collins from on now for me ( and not at the same time either). :bum:

Just for Stu...
