Was also curious about this, pool is cool but viewing ease is so much of the enjoyment
It's been cold and not much work done. They were out there today though and hit rock while trying to dig the footers. Most of the day with three guys and jackhammers. I'm sure this rock wont add much to the cost. Oh we'll. it looks like things are going to be slow this winter, rain in the forecast and then in the 20s for a while. One day....
As for viewing, most shark lagoons are viewed from the surface. There will be side viewing panels, like at some aquarium touch pools, but nothing huge. I'll post pics of ideas when I get time. As for the big pool, no panels. My pools now are only viewed from the top and that it perfectly fine IMO.

subscribed, this is cool. what are you planning for live stock are you going to mix things up, rocks, caves...?
OK the footers are poured and now working on the subterranean walls.
As for livestock. I already have a collection of around 15 sharks that I will be moving into the new systems. I have not decided what will go into to big pool, that will be last. Probably something like a blacknose since they are available for sale.

Let's just say that the cost of the project increased dramatically. I really don't want to go into the politics of it, and the unnecessary burdens I had to accept. Let me just say that without two different attorneys and a soil and also a water management engineer, a shovel would never have touched the ground. A shed would have been just as difficult though and it really had nothing to do with the intent/scope of the project. All politics.
It will be completely indoor and the size of the building and pool has increase in size.

Send me a PM. I might need help setting the panels or or laying the liner if I go that route. I found a guy that can sell me acrylic panels up to 2 inches thick and 8*4 foot for a reasonable price. I'm thinking of going with concrete, tile and acrylic , similar to that of Epcot's benthic shark display.
Thx for the link on the insulated pools. My pool guy tells me that if I add sand to the backfill, it will make insulation unnecessary. Not sure?

Wow, this will definitely be considered the DE state aquarium once completed.
