I have a 24 gallon Aquapod currently a reef set up for about 2 month now. I have a question about the filter media to use in this tank for reef

Currently im using
2 Bio Balls and both pieces of foam

Just wondering what’s the best thing to use I have read that some people take all this out?

So far everything is going great but have read the foam can be a nitrate trap my nitrates sit about 20-40

I have about 15-20lbs of live rock

Yes. Get rid of the bio balls. I have read this suggestion many times before I set up my nano. Now, I do have a piece of the foam that came w/ my Aquapod. I do add Phosguard and Carbon remover placed in a filter bag to the back of the tank. But, that's pretty much it as of now. It is working, so I will stick with it until.

I use regualr filter floss in my 12 gallon, when it gets dirty I just chuck it and put some fresh stuff in. Keeps the water nice and polished.

Chuck the sponges too, they will trap nitrates after a while as well...
