I've run into a problem with the pump on my 240/3.
The alarm sounded last night so I disconnected the power until I had a chance to work on it this morning. To cut a long story short I soaked the pump in vinegar for about 5 hours, followed by a soak in freshwater for another 2 hours this afternoon. Anyhow, after re-connecting the pump to the skimmer body and replacing in the sump the unit would not re-start. I took it out once again and found that the plastic impeller would not turn at all and I managed to snap one of the blades on the impeller trying to get it to spin.......I read the manual and it suggests a 48 hour soak in citric acid. It also said not to force the impeller to turn so it's entirely my fault that I didn't read this earlier.
I have 2 questions - does the broken impeller blade mean that the impeller has to be replaced or would it still be OK with 5 of the 6 blades ?, and is a further vinegar soak any chance of freeing up the impeller ?.
The unit is just on 2 years old and this is the first time the alarm has sounded.
