240 Gallon Cube

same here, look like a nice setup no additional lighting other then the 400w MH?

At this time that is the plan. I will eventually add some moon lights. If I need more light I have a bunch of T-5 stuff laying around and will add a couple of bulbs surrounding the halide.

Thanks for the compliments everyone

looks like a nice start. i have a 300 cube of the same dimensions except it is 30 deep. mine is in a corner so i am very jealous of your access and great 3 sided view. i have mine lit with 4 250s but i considered a 400 like you are doing. please post the par results when you get them in and the surge tank setup looks nice as well. subscribing keep up the good work.

Do you have any picture of yours?

I hope to get some par results in a couple of weeks. The gentleman I bought the tank was using 3-400's then went to 2-400's. I had orignally thought about 4-250's but decided I wanted to try this way first.

I was at a guy's house who has a 300 gallon horse trough and was lighting it with 1-400 watt halide. He said it was working great. The trough dimensions are 4'x6". The outer edges were dim but overall it looked really nice.

Hopefully it works out, I like the low electric bills.

Last night I receive my new heaters. The older ones I was using decided to go out. I am using two 300 watt stealth heaters. This is the first time I am using this and am quite impressed with them out of the box. Hopefully they will perform well long term.

I have a tank in the same dimensions, in glass. I'll have my build thread going soon. This one looks good and I'll be taggin' along. Mine is also viewable on 3 sides.

I have put up a couple of videos of the surges in action on my personal website. Here is a link to videos.

This weekend I started to transfer some corals to the new tank. The corals are adjusting pretty well to the new lighting and tank. I hope to have more stuff transferred and some pictures later in the week.

Send me a link to your thread when you get started. I will be interesting in seeing your progress.

This weekend I got my frag tank setup. I eventually want to go larger but am not sure if I am going to have the room. I hope to convert this frag tank to a clownfish anemone tank if I can find enough room to add another tank.

The tank is a Oceanic 30 breeder 36"x18"x12". It is being lit by 4 36" t-5's. The light is an Icecap retrofit but I am using advance ballasts. The bulbs are currently not being over driven but I wired it so I can use a 660 ballast if I need more light.

Here are a couple of more pictures.

A quick update.

I just moved over a few more corals and moved the rock work around a little. This weekend I picked up 2 tunze 6100's with magnet mounts, 7095 controller and a tunze rock. They were placed in the tank and the flow in the tank is much better.

I hope to move over more corals later in the week and get the kalkwasser reactor up and running.

Here are some pictures of the current aquascaping. I have about half of my corals transferred to the new tank. I plan on moving the rest over the next couple of weeks. Once they are moved I am going to move the fish.

Awesome setup....following along as well....How are the surges working? How bad is the microbubbles from the surges?

The surges are working pretty well. I get anywhere from 2-5 seconds of micro bubbles when the surges fire. I am still trying to tweak them to see if I can eliminate some more of the bubbles. Personally I do not mind the bubbles. The biggest issue is dealing with the salt creep but it has not been too bad.

Overall I am pretty happy with them. I wish I could move them up another 3-4" to get a little more out of them. Unfortunately I can not move them up unless I want to cutout a floor joist.
