240 Gallon Help

I just got myself a 240 Gallon tank a big upgrade from my current 55. Now I need some help. Ive always just used HOB filters and skimmer for my 55 and its been working great for the past 5 years but I know I cant do that with this tank. I dont want to drill it so I am going to need overflows? basically I need help kinda like a step by step thing on how to do everything like my sump and all that. Any advice would be great.

Thanks

best advise you can get and do right now is "drill it" dont start out backwards. i must have done over 7 years with a overflow before i drilled my tank. what a nightmare overflows are [enough said???]

find a cheap 100g old scratched up plexiglass tank off craigslist for a sump and enjoy.

Most LFS will charge you minimal cost to drill the tank for you. Ours is like $15 per hole or something like that. I recommend drilled as well. HOB overflows are a pain. If you do want to go that route though you will just need an HOB overflow box and spa flex hose to get it to your sump. Get an old tank or rubbermaid container for a sump.

You're gonna want to do this right the first time. 240 gallons can be a lot easier to screw up and a lot harder to fix, along with being a lot more expenisve.

Research the overflow style you want to do. I suggest beananimal. Then you know how to drill it. Research skimmers that will handle your capacity. I recommend an external return pump, and probably a couple vortech mp40w powerheads. $$$$$$

This ain't gonna be cheap to set up.
