You are very welcome and it pleases me greatly to be of service. As I've said before, it's simply my attempt to give back as I have learned much from many others. Thanks for the kind comments.

Joseph.

Well, I am very sad; I came to the current date in this absolutely incredible thread. I will liken it to reading an enthralling novel, replete with fascinating characters, intrigue, and, to cap it all off, stunningly illustrated.

I read all 157 pages, including links, and "took" pictures, diagrams and links as I went. The folder containing that wealth of knowledge weighs in at 18.6 MB (excluding the SensaPhone mp3; I trashed that after listening...) and my bookmarks increased by over thirty entries!!

Thank you!

Like others, I am stunned by the quality of your passion for crafting. I am very fortunate to work in a very creative environment. Many of my very close RL friends are decidedly creative; a trainer for the world's largest upscale hair salon chain, a blacksmith, two chefs, an interior designer. When I say this, I speak not only from my heart but with a grounding in practical experience; your skill is absolutely, unequivocally top-notch.

I am humbled by the care you (and your wife) provide to these displaced denizens of the ocean. I realized that I can (and will) do more to care for my own.

... and that is the one thing I learned from this thread that will stay with me, informing a lot of decisions I have yet to make.

So, I will close with a question. Any updated thoughts/research pertaining to the Blue Carpet Anemones? A fellow recipient of TotM (Ding Ding Ding; GRATS!!), Steve Weast, listed one as a resident of his TotM (2002, iirc) and a lot has happened since. I wondered if the two of you have had any discussion about them.

ebolii, Something in particular or is that a statement in general?

token, Thank you very much for the very kind words. It's good to know that others are able to take something away from this lengthy saga. ;) I've not spoken with Steve W. regarding blue carpets. I had kept a green and white striped carpet years ago for many years until a very unfortunate pump/Kalkwaser mishap. This was in my established, original 65-gallon tank. I truly believe that my blue carpet that perished in the 240 did so based on the fact that the tank wasn't mature long enough to sustain it when I added it. I was a little too anxious and fell victim to having found such a beautiful specimen. This is one of my greatest regrets to do with this current tank. I may consider adding another now that the tank is quite mature but it will take much thought prior to doing so. Most of that thought will pertain to how little room remains in my tank now, the double-edged sword of a mature tank. ;)

Just a general statement I suppose. Your images are great quality of what I see is a perfect aquarium. So it leaves one wanting more. "Turning out the lights and going to bed now" syndrome I guess

My tank is far from perfect, just as is the case with most other tanks. There are issues I deal with but I try to be very tenacious and keep them to a minimum. ;) Thanks though and I'm sure I'll have more "eye candy" available in the future.

Joseph.

Joseph,

The tank looks fantastic. When I return from my deployment the first thing on my to do list is build the dividing wall for my 375. My goal is to copy your set up. It has given me some great ideas. Since all of my equipment has been built or purchased for the system, the wall and running the electrical will be all its waiting on...

I love your imigaging! What type of camera are you using and what lens?

Thanks!

LOL...he gets asked that about every 3 or 4 pages.

Hey uses a Canon Digital Rebel XT with a Canon 100mm macro lens.

Hey Joseph, you might think about that info in your signature...

:D

Nick

I might consider that but if I do, I think I'll do so accurately. :D It's actually the original Canon Digital Rebel and not the XT... A difference of a couple less mega pixels. ;)

The R/C Man, Thank you very much and be safe.

If I fall down over here my face will hit sand... Its like a big beach without the water..... It was 147 degrees on the pavement the other day..... :O

Joseph,

Question: How are you liking the 240 long? My plywood tank failed this past week :( and now I am looking at buying a tank. I have decided to go with a 240.
I can't decide between the eight footer with 25" height or the six with 31" height. Both will fit(in wall basement setup) and I am leaning toward the 8 footer. Any thoughts on this now that you have had yours for a while now? Do you need anymore height?

Thanks and as countless others have said... INCREDIBLE setup!

Nick, No problem and thanks for chiming in. I appreciate the help.

Crazy4salth2o, Thank you very much.

Chris, I do still like the 240 layout but would better appreciate it if it were deeper, front to back. If I were to do a similar tank again, I'd give serious thought to a tank 6' wide and 6' deep. The 2' height works fine for me and helps to allow for the use of 250 MH lighting. I think anything deeper and to keep SPS happy and healthy would require moving up to 400's as a minimum. This based on growth rates in the wild compared to in-tank rates and the ability to place SPS and/or clams down low if needed. But mostly, this is just my opinion and your mileage may vary. ;) But keep in mind the lighting requirements should you choose to go deeper (height) than 2'. Thank you for the kind words.

Joseph.
