My brother lives in a Tropical area so I decided to gather the base rock for my new Reef Tank. My current tank is 120 gallons with a 500 gallon sump. Virtually all my SPS corals are growing off of 2 large rocks in the tank. Each rock is 80 to 90 pounds. This leaves alot of open area and allows for great circulation. Its hard to get good circulation with your corals growing on a pile of rubble.

The largest rock in these photos weighs 330 lbs.

I use a regular hand saw and cut the bottom of the rock perfectly flat so it is sits very stable on the bottom of the tank.

This is the bottom of the stand I built for my current 120 gallon. The stand is clear coated with no stain. The hardwood used was Bloodwood with Alder and Ebony inlays.

I am keeping my current 500 gallon sump and replacing the 120 gallon 1" Plex "James" tank with a 450 gallon AGE Glass tank. 84"X36"X36" with a PVC bottom and a overflow on the outside back of the tank.
