Absolutely no powerheads or anything else in teh tank besides lr and sand. Possibly a closed loop. I'm also working on a diy wavebox for it maybe.

what about a surge low watts and anemones respond well

that would require a surge tank above the display though allot of setups thats not possible

i totally agree that powerheads would be too dangerous. but you could use a DIY wavebox or streams hidden by a small false wall ? closed loops are nice but they use allot of electricity
and that tank will be sucking the energy up so?? maybee one closed loop pump wont make a difference with the big pump for the skimmer and the return??

great looking tank thanks agian for sharing. i have always wanted a big anemone tank this will help me design mine :)

No surge tank for me. Its in the middle of an open room. Nowhere to put the surge tank.
No really worried about energy so much. Right now im just plumbing it for a 3500gph return so we will see how that works. The rockwork is going to be very open so it may be enough.

ocean motions? 4way on the return?

is that the final location there in the pictures? or is it going in your house?

Thats final location. 4 way on return.

sounds like you have it all figured out i have a feeling it will make people have car accidents in the parking lot.

hey austin,

the sump was just over 3' long, correct? Any particular reason you're pushing so much water through the sump?

I see you have a lot of tanks and perhaps you've done the 60 and 125g this way, with a lot of volume going through the sump?

Why not use the 3500 gph pump for a closed loop? A large (2 or 1.5") bulkhead into the side of the tank, maybe half way up w/ a return manifold on the top pushing about 350-400gph per nozzle would work quite well, imo.

I think you can cover the intake on the CL w/ that gutter guard mesh.

moved from your other thread

and I'll say again, cubed tanks are, imo, the best looking tanks in the hobby.

come on...three to five nice magnifcas....and a colony bright orange/yellow nigripes....you cant go wrong. you could easily stash a small gigantae with some perculas underneath them off to the side somewhere....

so much potential!

Eh, 60 has low flow. Merten's needs low flow so i lowered it quite a bit since i have had it.
No reason i am pushing so much water through the sump, i just had that pump so i figured i woudl use it. Depending on what i end up stocking the aquarium with will depend on if i do the closed loop or not. I do have a dart i could use that is about 2600gph. If i go with the closed loop i will probably be changing the two out.

I believe the lighting is going to be a single 600w mh. Possibly dual 400's. or maybe a 1000. Not sure yet obviously.
I would like dual 400 watt MH with T5 as supplementary lighting. That would be bright!

No, Thats not thinking. This is going to be a Natural tank. Species specific. If you can show me a picture of a few magnifica's, with a small gigantea underneath the side somewhere from the ocean. i will do it. Otherwise, One species.

hrm. no pictures of magnificas and gigantaes....but i did see a bubble tip anemone with some within a few feet of magnificas off the coast of phi phi don in thailand. they had some a. ephippium hosting. the magnificas all had a. sandaracinos or a. akallopisos in them.

it happens. but as a fellow purist, youre right stick with species specific.
