240g question

i just got a deal on a 240g tank. delivered it to my house but have some q's about it. the guy i got it from was really nice but as he was the second owner he didnt know everything about it. he thought it was about 5 years old and said the owner originally spent $10k on it to be custom built by aquariums for you (they have since changed names or something). does anyone know these builders and were they quality?

i worried about the seams the silicone doesnt look like a super clean job. moreover the tank is starphire all the way around. but the panels on each side (except the bottom) are two 7/16" panes put together to give a total of @ 7/8" for each panel side. has anyone heard of doing this before? is this structurally sound to do?
there is 2" border bracing all along the bottom and top of the tank. also there is a small chip i have taken a pic of and some bubbles that seem to have formed between the panels on some edges. im a little worried about all this what do u guys think?

here are some pics:

after researching i may have found a reason for the double pane...starphire doesnt come in that thickness so maybe they had to put 2 togethr to get that thickness w starfire
