24g Nano Cube.

Alright, I've seen many Nano Cube setups and have always loved them. After selling almost all of my aquarium things, I've decided I'm going to pick one up this weekend (especially after seeing Dennis's last night). I have a 20g. tank, and I think I'm just going to move all the sand and rock from there into the cube, along with my 2 percula clowns and 1 firefish. Everything will be moved so there should be no cycle or anything. Any suggestions or tips? I've never kept corals before, so what all will I need? Thanks in Advance.

I might be wrong here, but you might want to get advice from a few of the more experienced people. I thought that if you move everything from one tank to the other, you actually might get a mini-cycle because you are stirring up junk from the sandbed.

I don't think its a huge cycle, but something to watch.....

Maybe put the fish in a bucket with some of the water, heater and power head for a day until the tank settles in. I am thinking that is what someone told me.

Moving the sand might set off a cycle event. If you can move the sand, leave the rock, and run both tanks for a little while, you might be better off. If not, make sure you test regularly and have plenty of pre-mixed SW on hand just in case.

You're right...I'm used to moving my freshwater tanks around and moving gravel which isn't as bad as sand. I'll probably just buy an extra bag of aragalive when I get the tank and stuff, and move most of the rock over, let it run for a week and move my fish on over. I love my 20g, but the Nano just looks soooo nice and clean. Thanks for the comments. The only thing I'm worried about is getting back into it, going to get my Nano Cube and bringing home a 200g tank.

Man Hobbes you are moving in the direction I want to but can't I have a 24 NC but I am setting up a 10 gallon for a mantis. I seem to be moving in reverse lol. Post up a thread on construction I would love to see it.

Adam if you do go the Nanocube route make sure to get some thing to surface skim. I used an old cassette tape case but there are commercial models out there you can get. I know Marine SOlutions has them at the front counter.
 
The New JBJ - 24G Nano Cube DX comes with the Surface Skimmer as an added bonus now. They just started doing it. The box has a sticker on the outside showing the new surface skimmer!

Its a great option, I bought a surface skimmer after I got my cube and it was NOT free! lol
 
Thanks Hobbes...I'm going the other direction too. I had a 75g and 135g salt tank (FOWLR) and now I just have my FO 20g and the nano when I get it. I am going to do the nanocube, then set up my planted tank for rams and kribs, then I'll be ready to do a large reef(200+ish)

I ended up getting the Aquapod. It came with 2 led lights, 1 PC daylight and 1 pc actinic (don't remember wattage right now). It also came with the surface skimmer. I was going to get the nanocube but none of them had the LEDs. I'm adding a new bag of aragalive tommorow, water and LR.

Adam - no need for dimensions, but thanks for offering! I was just wondering how many gallons it holds.
 
Oh, it is a 24gallon. It is basically the same thing as a 24NC.

Yeah, I didn't want the MH, I thought PCs were enough for what I want to do. I got it for $180 brand new, which was much cheaper than the nanocube. I'm going to try and start setting it up later this afternoon.

uh yeah, most of the lfs stores have them. i bought mine from marine solutions but beldts have them just the same. I have an "s" stand that looks great in my apartment.
