25-30gallons - How many fish is too many fish????

So the awnser is what??? How many fish do you have in your 25-30g tanks?

I have heard people be very strict with their ammounts of fish in a 30g tank, (like 1-3 fish) I have also seen tanks with as many as 8 fish in a 30g tank.

Whats your input?? How many do you have?

I wouldn't go more than 3, but it depends on the size of the fish. Neon gobies take up much less space and make much less waste than say a dwarf lion. Also, some tanks have a sump, which is misleading because you see the main tank of 30 gallons, but the sump may add another 10 gallons that you don't see.

I have 5 in my 33 (one of which is a neon goby), and that seems about right to me. So I'd say 4-5 for a 25-30 gallon tank seems to be pretty good.

I saw a 29g biocube yesterday with 1 Blue tang, 1 Sailfin Tang, 2 true percula's, a mandarin goby, flame angel, and a lawnmower blenny... I dont know how long they have all been in there, but it was stocked with alot of rock as well...

Anyone else have 5-7 fish in a 30g tank? How long have you had all of them in there? How long has your tank been set up for?

How many fish is too many

How many fish is too many

I have 5 in my Solana 34gal. But I really think that it depends on the kind of fish you keep.

The last four posts seem like good stocking lists....
In my 29 which will be up soon I am putting:
1. a bi-color or coral beauty angel
2. 1 black o. clown
3. 1 o. clown
4. 1 yellowtail damsel
5. 1 clown goby
and maybe a shrimp goby but I haven't really looked into them yet.

Tangs in a 29 gallon? Holy Crap. Thats the most stupid thing I've heard in a while. Almost in humane to think about

Ya, I agree, 2 tangs is a bit much. People try all kinds of crazy stuff though. I know plenty of stories that I don't even want to start talking about.

reefer07 i would go with the bicolor i have one and he doesnt pick at coral at all, i also feed 3 times a day tho. i think the colors on the bicolor pop more than the coral beauty

heres mine

a 29 is too small for two tangs let alone a single one.

I have 6 fish in my tank provided I do have 10g sump and an oversized skimmer.

Good choices. Love the dwarf angels. Although, the yellow tail damsel might be risky. I had one that was a model citizen named Fred. However, I have heard of them being terrors once they reach maturity.

I have the following in my solana...

(2) ora b+w clowns
(3) sm. blue green chromis
(1)fourline wrasse
(1) ora neon goby

Yes I know chromis will get much bigger...

i have a 24 with a pair of B&W clowns, blenny and also a wrasse they all are very happy and i also have a solana 34 so im thinking of what i want to put in there:) that person with the 29g has way too many fish in their tank and shouldnt have a tang in there.

heres my stock of my 29G dont check my currect tank for it almost 2 months old news

1. Golden Drawf Angelfish
2. Blue Tang (the size of a dime once it reaches 1inch and a half going to move to 90G)
3. peppermint hogfish
4. Havent got yet but maybe a rare clownfish
5. thinking about a yashi goby for my pistol shrimp

Any tangs (even 1) is 1 too many for a biocube. They are constant swimmers and should never be kept in a nano!

I agree about this. If its a very small one (3/4" - 1") then maybe, but definetly not 2 of them!

yeah, tangs need to move around, eventhough they eventually get used to the smaller space, but its just not normal.. get fish that don't grow very big.
