Question, I know they are machine washable. But what system do people use for storing them untill wash day. The way I see it you don't want to wash them with other clothes ( or do you) and you don't want to wash just one or two socks. But if you just put them aside they will dry and clump up. And storing them in water would smell bad (I figure).

Also how do you mount them in the sump?

I use a Reef Crystals salt bucket. I put a cup of bleach in the bucket and put the used socks in their until wash day. I use 2 socks at a time, 1 on each drain. I change them every day, and when the bucket is full, usually about a week, I wash them.

Haha..I wondered what other people did. I knew someone had to have a system for this!

My sump has 4 filter sock cutouts, but I only use one. So when I remove one, I lay the nasty used sock across the top there to drip dry a little bit. I have a 29g tank just sitting in my stand, so by the time I go to change the next sock, the old one sitting there goes into the 29g and the new old one goes in its place.

Not the best way, but it was all I could think of to keep it all inside my stand. I keep some dry equipment stored in that 29, too, so I don't want dripping wet socks going in there.

I've found they clean up better when kept wet too.

I read a while ago mikes "soak in bucket with bleach" thing and i've been doing that ever since. I just throw them in a bucket and when i'm down to 1 I put'em in the wash.

I didn't see the question about how to mount them in the sump. They come with strings or elastic straps that you can hang them from. They also have a ring in the top (flexible) so you can use them in a cutout. I can post pics of mine later. I want to get pics under my stand anyway..

Do you guys turn them inside out to soak/wash them? I would think they'd get cleaner that way.
