What bulbs are you running on your clam systems....im in the process of setting up a clam tank.....I ordered a pfo pnedant and a single hqi ballast...just trying to decide on the flavor of the bulb, since it will not have any actinc suplimentation, and that its a shallow tank 13 inches in depth not counting a sand bed...im going to go with at least a 14 k to 20k...I looked at the aquaconects and pretty much gave up hope trying to snag one of those....so far im looking at the hamilton 14k........the giesman 14.5 ...........ab 20........and giesman 20k....the tank will be 90% clams...possibly some zoanthids and others that will be bainished from my sps sytem...if anyone has pics they would be welcomed greatly...

On my 125 SPS tank, I run 3 400 watt se XM 20K bulbs with Blueline e ballasts. It has 1 2" blue max up high, 1 2" gold max up high, 1 6" Gold max on the sand, 1 4" gold max on the sand, 1 6" Crocea up high, 4 3" croceas half way up, and a 4" hippipus (sp) on the sand.

My 50 breeder has 2 150DE 10K run on cap ballasts with a 6" squamosa on the sand.

HQI/DE PFO mini and ballest packs a huge punch with my 10K AB. I have it with no actinic supplements and I find it not to be as blue-ish and attractive as I would like. I am switching to a higher Kelvin bulb to get better aesthetics and a little less intensity.

180 Clam tank with 14KK Hamilton 250W DE's. I have 2 Crocea clams and one small Maxima all in the sand.

I ordered the aqua conects 14 k so hopefully that plase my eye and the clams...the geisman 14.5 was a close 2nd...loved the price of the hamilton 14ks but have read a few posts latly saying they have a hard time giting past the 6month mark...

Really? I haven't heard that. I ran 14KK Hamilton 250W SE bulbs for at least a year without a problem. I must say though, I love the DE bulbs 10x more than the SE bulbs...I will NEVER go back!

Well I have just read a few acounts here on reefcentral....when compared to the actual total sale of the bulbs in service im sure its pretty slim....i guess any bulb can go bad from any brand...but your coredt I do really like the DE's

i am running dual pfo 250 watt hqi pendants with blv 20k bulbs on my 45 gallon tank. i have a 6 inch deresa and a couple of 3 inch croceas. i just ordered a nice grayish/green maxima from clamsdirect.com.

I have 2x250W XM 10KK DE on running on AB.

Going to change to 2X400W XM 20KK +4X80W T5 did'nt decide yet which, might go with 2x6000K+2xActinic plus of Deltec
or
4x80W 50-50 of Deltec.

I'll also look at the XM 15000K that should be out soon.

14K hamiltons in ASL on AB mag ballasts. Ballasts drive them hard, but would like them just a bit bluer.

Had them 8 months.
