ok this is my first post in this thread and don't even know if my 2 cents has already been spoke about because there is too much bickering and 80 sentence paragraphs.

I have few issues I noticed right away.

1.) Your diy rock looks more like backyard rock. Now I don't care about the cosmetic part of it. If its not porous enough it won't do much good. If its got elements in it that are detrimental to a tank, you will know in about 3 months when it starts to leach and cause algae blooms. Or when you add corals and they keep dieing after a month.

2.) Your top off water has a salinity of 1.022??? seriously??? keep up the good work. By next month your tank salinity should be up to 2.0, I hear corals love that.

3.) Your return pump is a quite one 1200????? for a 300 gallon tank thats not even good enough for the skimer. I'm surprised water even makes it up to the tank. Actually I'm gonna go back on my last comment and say that pump is not even good enough for my phosphate reactor.

Your tank I know looks fine now and fish are not dieing. I guarantee you though you will run into problems shortly. Now I know there isn't convincing you, although I do suggest you don't buy anymore livestock. Keep what you have and slowly upgrade parts of your system as you can afford it. My suggestions would be

1.) Get a real pump. Your tank needs flow. Did you ever wonder why our refugiums require low flow. Its ideal for algae to grow. Your tank will turn into a 300 gallon refugium.

2.) Get a protein skimmer

3.) Throw away those bricks and get some live rock. If you wanna save some money, caribsea sells a dry base rock. Its not as nice as live rock but it is like $50 for 50 lbs and will actually work.

4.) My last item is not to be insulting. Get an open mind and stop being a smart a$$. You know nothing about this hobby, NOTHING!!! I have been in it for 3 years and still know very little. When people who have already killed many fish and corals due to stupid mistakes tell you what your doing is not going to work and you say LMFAO makes me not want to help you and rather your fish all die and your tank turn into a refugium so your wife makes you get rid of it and then someone who actually gives a $hit will buy your tank.

If you can't afford doing it right from the begining I don't blame you. I did that once too, but I tell you. Everything these so called "haters" have promised you, happened to me. Then I had to pony up and dish out money to set it up right.

P.S. yes a tank can be ready for fish in a week. As a matter of fact I have add fish to a tank about 3 hours after filling it with water. But the difference is, I used live rock from an existing system. Your using rocks from your local playground. Unless you know God you can't create a cycle faster then 4-6 weeks.

Good post Chago09, but if you had read this thread or the others you would know that all your advice had been covered and landed on deaf ears.

+1

Heck, just read his previous two threads. All the time he is just laughing at people trying to help him. In his 300 gallon plywood tank thread he goes on a profanity laced tirade that gets the thread locked. Everyone started out offering advice to him only to have it thrown back at them with an "I know better attitude". His rushed attempts at getting a reef tank going has gotten allot of people disturbed on the health of the life in his tanks. The creatures he purchases are at the mercy of an owner who is more concerned about doing things fast and in a short cut manner.

Chago09, no one is trying to be an [profanity] if you read his posts you would realize there just are allot of people who were concerned on the health of his fish and now are in a helpless position. If Deric would come back and maybe post some current pictures it would help alleviate the fears of many of the posters. But, until then the followers of this and his previous threads are only going to fear the worst because of previous circumstances.

So did you feel the need to sign up with a second user name to post? Please pm me why I shouldn't move on both of your names.

We are done here again.
