Ace, I then the nem might be getting too much attention! Some of the others want some love from those clowns:)

***I think I'm stealing your phyto culture idea down the road....Added to my DIY to do list in my bookmarks:) When I'm saving up money for the big DT I'll be adding things such as this to the system!

Awesome tank! I want to do the same thing. Have a question with the close loop system. So what is the purpose of that? Just so that you can run an inline carbon and for flow?

What are the benefits and what about leakage?

Thanks
Tim

yeah, they spread out during the day tho, so it is only at night. that is the first time i have seen that many of them in there. the phyto is easy to do and if some of your corals will really thank you for it.

thanks, the closed loop is just for circulation so i wouldnt have to have any powerheads in the tank. i hard plumbed everything and leak tested, so hopefully i wont have leak issues. i already had the carbon reactor and thought i may as well plumb it in while i was setting up. one problem with a tank that is skimmerless is the gradual greening of the water. the carbon reactor really helps with that.

here is a bit of an update. things are trucking along nicely, and everything seems to be growing. here are some pics from today

those pics are taken with all of the t5 bulbs on:

2 @ 54W ati blue plus
2 @ 54W daylight (12K)

right now, the effect of the sunlight on the colors in the tank is minimal. in the summer, everything has a washed out appearance in the middle of the day because of the color of the sunlight coming in.

another monthly update here. tank is 8 months old and clowns are a couple weeks past that. the cards are about 5 months old.

first, some pics

Great tank hobogato, I’m also using solar to light my tank two 21”Sun-Domes. I’m planning my supplemental lighting; I will most likely go with a high kelvin lighting filter and have a led system just for night time viewing.

If you have a moment check out my build.

Happy New Year!
