Hey Everyone,
I've been lurking in the background of this site for years. Joined a while ago, but I stay quite. I have the pleasure of finally joining the "big tank" club on Reef Central.

My 250 gallon (60"x36"x27"high) is on order
it's a Perfecto 3 sided Starphire with Corner Overflows.

using Reefsafe's 345g, i2as kass' 250g as inspiration (beautiful tanks)

I would like to see some pictures of STANDS this size of tank or similar.

I was thinking of building with 4x4's and 2x6's with 3/4" plywood on the top. Holding every thing together with lag bolts. I am just waiting to do the 3-d mockup at work (mastercam). Then I will update with the mockup.

I appreciate any help you guys could give me.

I will post pictures when I start my build.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Vinny, I did take a look at that thread... I still want to see other people's pictures though. For the most part his designs use screws. I want to see other people with big stands that aren't steel. Would screws bend, are lag bolts necessary or overkill? You know what I mean...

I think with your materials that you listed will do just fine. I used 2x4's for my 300 gal tank. I actually followed the BluePrint here in RC one of the members had the pics up at that time I'll try to find the pics and post pics ASAP

thanks guys. my buddy who is a carpenter said i should just pre drill and use a high gauge screw. I will basically build 2 frames 60"x36" (stand foot print) for the top and bottom. and screw them to the 4x4's. I will put some 2x6's in between the top and bottom frame for support that tie into the 4x4's i will also put a 3/4" plywood sheet on top and screw it down to stop the stand from twisting. i spent the past few hours looking at all the big builds and I'm sure that if some of these stands can hold, mine will no problem.

I'll post some pictures and stuff when I get going
