How's things doing?

Good...good.

Just extremely busy, haven't taken any pics yet and had to buy a second vehicle.

I will be back into the swing of things this winter though, thanks for asking.

My wife is gone with the camera, but I should have an update soon.

Just got the Barr Aquatics kalk reactor and started hooking it up today (then I had to go to work:o) It is a big reactor!:D

I guess you have given up on your calcium reactor? :)

I really hope the kalk reactor can keep with alk/calcium demands. If it doesn't then I will hook the reactor back up. For those of you that do not know I broke the top lid of my calcium reactor last week (again :( ) Too much pressure off of my main pump. If I hook it up again I will have to have a dedicated pump. I was also having problmes with the CO2 bubble counter. Once I changed CO2 tanks it was always unstable.

I'm still happy with my Barr Kalk Reactor, I'm sure you'll be with yours as well.

Yes, it looks like a quality unit (not perfect, but real nice). It is also very simple in design, so it should last for years.

Is the tank in a room with a stable room temperature? I have noticed that colder temps around the CO2 bottle will increase my CO2 rate without me even touching the needle valve.

No, that is not the problem.

I think it is sub-standardly dirty CO2. I can clean the needle valve and it works good for a couple of weeks and then suddenly drops. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

On the last CO2 bottle it stayed rock solid for 18 months.

Hopefully the kalk reactor is a little more hands off than your calcium reactor is right now. Too bad about it not working well for you..

I gotta get some sort of cacium supplementation system in place; continually dosing 2-part is a royal PITA!

Guess you've been doing 2 part dosing until the kalk reactor was up and running hey?

BTW, where'd you find Dowflake (calcium chloride) in Winnipeg? I just used up most of mine making my 2 part....

Later,

I'll give you a call re: the calcium chloride.

Finally got a couple of shots done n the tank. Not the greatest, color is off a bit, but it should give you an idea of the growth and tank condition.

My huge orange cap.

My green slimer that has expoded in growth lately. The small piece on the left is the size of the original frag that I got from SWC and that was only about 8 months ago.

My purple slimer (I think). This coral has undergone interesting color changes lately. I don't know what will end up happening to it. Some new growth has been bluish-purple. Some new growth has been white with bluish parts on it.

:D Wow, nice growth Ben. Looking good. I await the day the new tank is stable, so I can come for a visit. :D {with my baggies}.

Very nice corals! Hey, what color is the corraline on the back wall? It looks whitish in the pictures.
