250 Pendant Choice

I have used the Hamilton Reefstar and I liked it. The light spred is excellent. You will get a good 3 feet spred and it is small in height. It's nice. The new ones have 2 LED lights.

nice to know the hamiltons have leds built in now.

hadn't considered the lumenmax or reef optix. doesn't look like there are many plug n play options with these pendants. recommend ice cap ballasts?

whats the deal with dimmable ballasts?

those ballasts plug and play with the sunlight supply bluewave ballasts.

never played with dimmable ballasts myself, I know they are very expensive, I personally I wouldnt have a use. I could add T5 lighting to the setup for less money to get a softer on and off to the photoperiod, and add light during the day.

I own an Ice Cap MH pendant. It's nice, and offers good light spread. You can purchase the PFO moonlight LED mogul mount and attach it inside the pendant really easy. Then you have a MH/LED pendant all in one.

Can anyone weigh in on the new Lumenbright reflector with coralvue dimmable ballast? Its about the same price but seems its better performance than most other reflectors. I was also looking at the 14k Reefflux bulb for $270. Can my money be better spent?

I have used two of the hamilton reef star systems and I like the slim design and good light spread with the hammertone reflector built in!! I didnt know they come with LEDs now, thats cool!

I am using the new coralvue dimmable 400w ballast with a 12K reeflux...........is there now a 14K? I like the dimmable feature despite the fact that it must be done manually, however, I have heard conflicting opinions on whether or not it is bad for the bulb. So you might want to look into that first.

My reflector is a the standard lumenarc 3...........probably a bit big for what you are looking for, but it sure throws some light.
