250g bullnose penninsula build

Hello all. I have never done a build thread, but i'll give it a go...

I have been planning to upgrade my 75g a large 200-300g penninsula for the past year. I built a mock-up out of 1x2's and newspaper to gauge size, views etc...Then I put the whole project on hold to complete some other projects first. I check craigslist daily "just in case" and came across a deal I couldn't pass up-a complete system breakdown at an unbelievable price (I felt like I robbed them) that included:
250g 1" thick acryllic bullnose tank 60"wx26d"x36"t
Custom stand/canopy
light fixture: 2x250w hqi/2x96w pc/moonlight
Blueline 30 pump
Blueline velocity T4 pump
Little giant pump
Mag 12 pump
2x Rio 3100
UV sterlizer
2 Lifereef sumps
Lifereef skimmer
175g storage tank
120g storage tank
Maxxima r/o
~200# live rock
All livestock including a juv emperor

So after a quick trip to Vegas for the Rugby Sevens tourney, it's time to get dirty!

As if I need to ask...who one between the Blacks and Fiji?? And what is a chicken doing at the rugby??!!

Tank build look like it should be sweet!

The tank is going to divide the kitchen/dinette from the living room. Equipment will be installed in the basement for easy tinkering. I'm installing a closet between the tank and wall so we won't have to **** our heads to view the tank from the couch.

I'll post more pics later from my mac. These windows p.o.s.'s at work suck.

I need help how to insert images without making them thumbnails. But here's a few thumbnails of the closet construction. I'm working on installing the stand now so i'll have pics up in the next few days.
Since I have two other reef tanks running, I'm thinking of making this tank a fowlr to house a harlequin tusk. Does anyone have experience with a harlequin in an acryllic tank? I'm concerned the tusks will scratch the tank too easily and i'll be spending more time buffing than enjoying.

Instead of uploading your images to RC, put them on a web image storage site like PhotoBucket or Image Shack, then link them here using the yellow icon with the mountain on it.

Here's an update for today. R/O and storage tanks almost finished. Electrical nearly complete. The stand and closet need drywall taping/finishing and texture. You can tell from the pics that I've never done drywall before. I better call a professional.

Nice progress. The peninsula's are my favorite. Being that you have a basement, with a tank that size in the middle of the floor what do you have to do to support that much weight?

The tank sits perpendicular to the floor joists and will be supported by four joists underneath. I will "beef up" the joists by screwing 2x12's to them and stabbing in another 2x12 piece between them to prevent rocking. I'm thinking this will be enough to prevent bowing, but just in case, I'm gonna build a 2x6 wall to put the weight to the basement floor.

Does anyone know if this will be sufficient?

Here's a couple pics of what I got done yesterday. Sub-floor work complete. Electrical complete and tank is on the stand.
