Ok, I am currently running 8x39w t5s (cheapo catalina with reflectors) and 2x95w vho actinics on a 90g. I keep mainly sps witha few lps. After a couple of years with this setup, I am tired of the colors that I do not get. I have seen corals that look boring in my tank look amazing in tanks lit by 14k and 20k halides, and I am ready to convert.

If you have any suggestions oh mh for a 90g, please advise. I am considering a sunlight supply lumenmax2 or a lumenarc mini for se halides, or a sls lumen max3 or lumenarc mini for the 250w hqi.

2x 250 watt will be plenty . I reccomend keeeping the actinics. I tend to like the 10k look with actinics because i dont like an overly blue tank. My next bulb is going to be Iwasaki 14k . It is one of the brightest 14k bulbs ou can get.

Good luck

I agree. Go with 2x250w 10k HQI and supplement the actinic with the 2x95w VHO. The 10k will give good par for growth and the VHO will add blue to help balance the light.

I am partial to 250w and with either one of those reflectors will be plenty. I like SE better to me because no need for a shield and easy to screw in and out instead of fighting with the DE. I have also found that the light seems to be more spread out but that is my opinion.
