ok...so here is my dilemna. i have a current sunpod 2X150watt fixture now above my 75g with retro T5 actnics. My tank has a canapoy and the fixture is suspended from the ceiling...however....with the height i have to keep the fixture for access purposes im just not getting enough penetration to keep acros. So...i know i can just keep corals that demand less light...but i really want an sps dominated tank.

what im going to do is get rid of the canopy and go with the open top look. im going to ge a fixture i can hang with pc or vho actnics integrated.

so...the choice: 2X250w or 2X400w. I really never want to have to upgrade again and i want the corals to thrive. However...i really dont want to have to invest in a chiller...which i dont think will be a problem with a suspended fixture and no canopy.

The 250 is about half the price of the 400. Im looking to buy the fixture this week to save a couple of acros that are slowly bleaching on me.

I will also be selling the aquapod and retros as soon as i get the new fixture if anyone is interested. i just replaced all bulbs about two weeks ago. the MH are ushio 10000k.

Hi Shawn
I might be interested in the T-5 retro(48in I assume?)... shoot me a pm with the price you would like and the settup info. cheers Eric

pm sent.

im getting a lot of offers for my lighting...which is cool...but i cant sell it until i get the new fixture...so please...add your two cents about the fixture i should get...especially those of you who have sucessfully kept sps.

Did you ever consider making a lift system with your current lights?
Remover the innards of the canopy and use a pulley system to raise and lower the light rack inside the canopy to have access during maintenance.

yeah...the only problem is that its in the middle of my living room and im trying to keep things very clean looking....and the only way i would be convinced that sps would thrive with my curren fixture would be if it was sitting on the tnak with feet...but this is not possible because of my retro actinic in my canopy
