26 gallon reef tank

Hello
I've been working and planning for a while for a 75 gallon and finally making some headway ! However the weekend I scored a 26 gallon bow front that was given to me .

It came with under gravel filter , heater hob filter and other goodies . I'm considering in turning it into a reef tank and once my build on the 75 is completed anything would get transferred to the 75 and shut down the bow front .

I am thinking will give a chance for maintenance , chemicals cycling and such ! I'm aware a smaller tank can be more trouble some . Would like some input if it would be a good idea what I'm contemplating or just a bad idea

I'm a little confused on the role the 75 is going to play - are you saying that it will also be a reef tank and you just want to use the 26 while you get the 75 going? I don't see an advantage to starting up the 26 and then shutting it down shortly thereafter. Reef inhabitants like stability and starting up and shutting down systems isn't ideal. You'd have to wait on multiple cycles anyway and so I don't think you'd pick up any time.

My recommendation would be to take your time on the 75 and just start with it from the beginning. The 26 could make a great QT tank for new inhabitants.

If you do not want to use it as a QT then I think it would make a great invert only tank. A lot of the really cool inverts such as sexy shrimp can get lost or become a snack in larger tanks.

My plan is to get some live rock going and sand and maybe through a fish or two in the 26.:.when my 75.is up I'd use the rock and sand as its live . All Ines's getting at .

Thinking not a good idea after some responses , I have been taking my time with my 75 and will continue . I was thinking might give my 75 a head start that's all I was trying to get at .I hope this clears some confusion up
