265g peninsula tank

Temp won't be a problem for me since I plan to place the pump distant to the tank in a seperate cabinet along with all my remote ballasts. Is the Vortech a submersible pump? I plan to use a non submersible. Sue

I DEFINITELY want to get away from ANY type of powerhead. I think they are the scourge of reefkeeping! Sue

Closed loop it will be then.

So now the question is where would you have the closed loops. Both intake and return? How many closed loops would you have to keep a good current in a peninsula tank.

Personally I was thinking of having the sump returns at the top of the overflow side. Then have two closed loop retuns about midway down the overflow side. Then have two more closed loop returns closer to the bottom. I was thinking of putting in an om4-8 way. The intake would be near the bottom, coming up through the bottom, near the opposite side of the overflow side. I was also thinking of putting a few more closed loop returns higher near the opposite side, again coming up through the bottom, that would be aimed at where the water overflows.

What do you think? How would you change it? I know going up through the bottom probably isn't good but I want to be able to hide it all and not have something you can see coming down in the water from the top.

Tell me what you would change and why... please.
Sorry I would diagram it but I don't know what to use to make good diagrams.

I was thinking of having all the overflows on one end, 4 total. 2 returns on overflow end as usual and 2 returns on opposite(viewing) end. I got a quote for a tank like that. Not too bad a price. The returns on viewable end would be painted black and close to corners. Does anyone think a setup like that would work?
I was thinking of going with only one non-submersible pump for all 4 overflows and returns. How big would the pump have to be to accomodate all the flow. Keep in mind this tank is going to be a FOWLER tank, no corals, only a couple tube anemones and fish.
