Well, my honest opinion is, I don't care for it to much. If I were to go with the minimalist approach in a tank the size as yours I would go with something like this

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1692183&page=33

Build your rocks up on a structure of some sort to give it some height so it wouldn't look so bare. That link is to Chings tank in Thiland, granted he has a big tank, but we are only talking about the rock work here. Two or three small structures in your tank would look real nice (they would look nice in anyones tank, lol) but I think you can see what I am talking about. JMO

The pics I want you to see are about 2/3 down the page.

Thanks for your opinion, all input is appreciated. Good or bad. One of my issues is most of my live rock is pretty small pieces, I ordered it that way for my foam and rock project that I've now changed my mind on. I need to figure out a way to work with the small stuff or order some larger pieces.

I'll post back with try number two in a couple of days :sad1::lol:

RO/Di going in. I decided to leave teh aquascaping the way it was for now.. It's grown on me.

Spoken like someone who must have another smaller tank running already! I got NOTHING. Been years...

Nope, no other tanks running. I shut down my 90 gallon along time ago.. My light timer failed while on holidays my tank sitter didn't notice because the lights weren't scheduled to be on when she stopped by and checked on things.

Got started on making up all the cords to get everything wired up properly. I picked up 250' of 18/3 and a bunch of ends.. The ends are way more then I thought they would be.. $10.00 for each pair, one male, one female! Got my halides plugged into the controller. Man, this doing things neat thing is time consuming! Took me 3 hours to get everything wired and zip-tied for three plugs!

Started to rework the aquascape today, I built four pillars that I hated. Here's the one that made it into the tank. I still have to work on the aquaspace for the center and right side of the tank.

What it looks like behind the scenes:

wow, great tank set up and everything but im a bit disappointed that you purposely broke the other tank to get it out. Could have made somebody's day if you gave it away or sold it as a really low price and have them replace the center brace. Anyway everything else looks good and good luck.

I've had a few comments about breaking the tank, but it wasn't worth my time or effort to get it out of the basement. The top bracing was gone and the left hand pane was cracked. The back and sides of that tank were really thick. I believe it was 3/8" clear pane with a 1/4 smoked pane laminated to it with another 1/4 pane of mirror laminated to that. So you can imagine how heavy that tank was. Plus is was therapeutic to break that thing!

nice work!!!!

nice work!!!!

I prefer the taller pillars too. My main reason for that is light-hungry corals that may not thrive as much at lower depths of the tank. Granted with enjoy light being 'pumped' into the tank, that may not be an issue.

Did you have any issues cycling th tank?

I too love these builds. I'm signed up - kind of glad I got in on the middle. I don't think I could have waited for it this long :eek2:. Man have you given me alot of ideas that I can't afford :spin3:. Tank is really looking good though - I can't wait for it to grow. Keep the pictures coming and keep us up updated - Thanks for sharing :o.
