29 Gallon tank start up

I'm in the process of a 29 gallon tank, I still have to design and build a stand for a 29 high, and hold a 20 long underneath for a sump/refugium.

Does anyone have any suggestions on setups and equiptment? Who makes the best heaters, what kind of return pump, closed or open loop, what kind of setup should I use when I drill the tank? Any suggestions on powerheads? I need to start buying some equipment now, any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.
Any designs would be greatly appreciated.

Hey James,

As it is I am about to pick up an old TV/entertainment unit.
Will be moding to fit either.. a 33 with 20 refugium or a 55 with a 33 refugium. Have the plans at home. Will post them later for you.

heater you can get a jeabo 250w, and for lighting and pumps all comes down to what you want to keep, but for pumps maxi jets are good, and just wait for the new nano tunze, if you going to have a 20g long, you can have a asm g1x, or a small ER, for return you can use a mag7 tee back to the sump if is to much for the tank

I was thinking similar to that, I am going to get the asm-g1x for sure, I'd like to go with a tunze powerhead, but they are to strong. Hows the nano one going to be. I am also trying to figure the return pump, if the mag5 or 7 would be better. I also want to put 1-150w MH and 2-65 pc in the canopy. What about the hole sizes, should I dill the drain at 3/4 or 1, same thing for the reutrn.

1 inch for drain, and the return you can put it over the tank, you can put a 250w Mh in your tank you will be able to keep anything you want and for the return i think the mag 7 is better because you can make a manifold and feed your skimmer and slow flow for a fuge if you want to, the tunze mini looks pretty good, here is a link for a thread about it http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=843341&highlight=tunze

i have no sump on my 29

modded MJ 1200, 2x65 watt PC actinics, 1x150watt DE mH

keeping some sps, zoos, adding more sps and lps soon

flow is good, if you can get one of these, i highly reccomend it! (MJ)
