No, no, no, no. Your tank is a certain death sentence for a yellow tang. Sorry, but 29 gallons is WAY too small.
I'm not the tang police, but they will be arriving soon. :D

i think the shrimp will probably kill each other in such a small tank its iffy. the tang goes without saying, but if you do it then put the cheapest fish as possible in there cause it will attack your other fish or might end up getting kick and wiping out your tank.
the starfish probably wont have enough to eat. i have seen to many diamond gobies lately, but they are cool. sounds good and let us know if you need any help. do you want a bigger tank? iam sure we could find a cheap one for you.

lol, im sure the addiction will grow fast enough that I will upgrade sometime but for now the 29 is all I feel like bothering with. Ya I wanted something crazy as far as the goby but just can't find anything that really makes me stop and say WOW. The Tang police already have my address when I tossed a Sohal into my old 125 lol. I'll have to seriously think that one over.

another big NO for a tang in that size. Even as babies (which grow really quickly) they are too big for a 29.

Of your fish listed I would put pair of clowns, maybe a green clown goby or flamehead goby or priolepis goby, and i'm not sure about wrasses. The halichoeres can get to be a few inches long and in my opinion (i know, everyone has their own) a little too big for already having a pair of clowns in the tank. Even osc. clowns can get large when fully grown. Have you considered a possum wrasse? they stay about the right size.

If you plan on keeping corals or possibly the small goby i'd also nix the chocolate chip starfish.

Some people who are in this hobby feel a great connection to their pets and think of them as you would a loyal cat or dog, others consider them to be fish without much thought to their comfort (the way we do with other more cuddly animals)

Only you can decide what category you fit into and how much time and care you are willing to give these animals, but if you think you fit into the first, then hopefully with an open mind and some good advice you will soon have a thriving beautiful nanotank with healthy and happy fish! If for some reason you fit into the other then I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide on trying regardless but hope you don't end up making choices you might later regret.

Also with wrasses, make sure your tank has a lid they will be prone to jumping!

ok I got overrexcited because of the whole starting a new tank thing so I listed some crazy stuff. Oh and I know for a fact Tangs won't work but wanted to show the gf everyone else's opinion so thanks for that.
Realistically here is what I am looking at doing but want to add one fish to the list. Looking for some green or blue to the tank and I pray that nobody types out damsel or chromis lol.

Pair of False Percula Clownfish- Amphiprion ocellaris

Tail Spot Blenny- Ecsenius stigmatura

Royal Gramma- Gramma loreto

5 Scarlet Hermit Crabs- Paguristes cadenati
10 Hawaiian Zebra Hermit Crabs- Calcinus laevimanus
1 Cleaner Shrimp- Lysmata amboinensis
1 Fire Shrimp- Lysmata debelius
10 Nassarius Snails- Nassarius sp
5 Mexican Turbo Snails- Turbo fluctuosa

I have no intention on doing a reef tank again aside from a few corals they just don't tickle my fancy I guess lol. The ocellaris pair is a must unfortunately i love them but the miss' desperately wants them so we shall see how that goes . . . . how does the rest of my list look?
