29g standard tank, best brand?

Probably a dumb question, and likely a wash in the end maybe...in your opinion, what company makes the best standard 29g tank and why?

Just go to petco this week. and get one of theirs. Dollar per gallon all week up to 55.

I picked up a 20L yesterday.

I'd like to support the LFS...Clarksville has the best price. Just the name Petco sends chills up my spine. I know a 10g is a 10g...but I had to look through 10 just to find one with somewhat square panes.

Aqueon or Marineland, either of them better than the other? I'm setting up a nano display, so it be nice if the panes are flush and the silicone is somewhat neat, and the trim not be loose...

I reeally like Deep Blue Professional tanks. not sure if they have a 29G, but they are built nice. The Critter carries them and I had chris order me a 40 Breeder for my sump.

They do, it's $59.99 at AC...I saw the 65 they have...very impressive. Did you ever figure out if all the panels are tempered or not, they make reference to tempered on their site, but it's not clear? Also, did yours come with black silicone, the 65g at AC looked to have it?

Also, appears they are located in Austin, TX, I suspect some more Oceanic guys got together on this one maybe...just speculating, right area...

Well I called the rep and he told me that the tempered panels will be marked with a tempered sticker. The bottom is clearly marked. The sides did not have any stickers on them. I called Ken at the Critter and he called their rep for me and he said all sides are tempered . So I then was on a thread on here and im'ed a few people with the tanks and two people said they drilled the sides with no issues. One guy said his was clearly marked with tempered stickers on all sides. So long story short, its risky :D. I decieded not to drill and just arranged my lay out different. You can have chris or ken call them for you to see if the 29 is tempered. I didn't save the reps # i talked to and it was last month, so my phone deleted it. I think his name was gary.

Yep, it was black silicone. I like it.

And no, they are not the same guys, they are Deep Sea Aquatics.

Thanks for all the info, I'll see what Chris comes back with today...polished edges and black silicone, flush panels, yeah, I'd rather pay $60 for it as a display...but can't beat $29 at petco for a 29g for a sump or frag tank...

Yeah, I know about the DSA guys, I have one of their tanks, and I'm aware of A.G.E. too, was just thinking that maybe there was a third faction down that way...

I'll post about the 29g when I find out...

Should have started or posted in the Deep Blue thread I guess...anyway, last one, and in regards to the tempered issue.

From what I can tell, the "select models" where all sides are tempered are the Edge (rimless) models, the 75 and 57 gallon tanks.

Here's info on the 75g:

Deep Blue Professional Edge Series 75 Gallon Rimless Reef Ready Aquarium 48 x 18 x 20

Edge75 Rimless Reef Ready System

Features include: Opti-Pure glass technology for unparalleled viewing clarity, rimless top design, center-back overflow pre-filter with patented Floodgate & cover. Complete plumbing kit included. Upgraded glass panes on all sides, drilled and tempered for strength and safety.

For what it's worth...LFS just told me this:

"I just heard from another rep of deep blue and he says all aquariums are tempered with low lead front glass panels."

I am a little late here and new but has anyone tried or had experience with Glasscages.com. They have custom made rimless tank.

Yep... I had a 45g from them for 2 years or so... I don't have it any more, but I know the person who does and its still up and running fine. I got it with Starphire... made a bit difference and I highly recommend it. Glasscages can be "funny" to deal with (not the greatest PR).
