So I've had 3 out of the last 4 fish die days within getting them from LFS. The first was a bicolor angel, who died on the 3rd day and a small male clown who had an internal parasite (manifest on day 2) and died on the 4th day. There were no external symptoms on the fish who died, except the long stringy white poop on the clown. The other clown (female) survived after catching the internal parasite from the male and treated with metro. She finished the 12 day TTM and is now in the QT.
I wanted to replace the male clown I lost, so I picked one up yesterday from a different LFS and was going to start him with TTM before adding him to the QT. I had new SW (1.024 salinity) aerated overnight and at 79 degrees. I added some RODI to lower the salinity to match the LFS salinity of 1.020. I floated the bag for 15-20 min to get him acclimated to the temp. I then opened the bag and transferred him into the tank. I left him in the dark for 4 hours and then fed him. Not sure if he ate or not. This morning, I find him covered in white spots - not sure if it was ich or velvet. Other than the spots, he looked ok. Was active, swimming around. Tried feeding him again, not sure if he ate or not. A few hours later, he then starts going crazy, swimming upside down and doing flips. Dies shortly thereafter. He looked fine at the store, no white spots, no stringy white poop, feeding well at the store. I measure the water afterwards and it seems fine - salinity of 1.020, pH around 8, no ammonia, no nitrates, no nitrates. I have an air stone in the tank, providing aeration. Am I doing something wrong?
