3 clownfish question

I have had a mated pair of clowns that have together for 5 years. They have a nem they host too. I have another nicer clown in a smaller tank. I would like to add him to my main display so he can be in the bigger tank. Will the other clowns accept another clown?

All depends on the size of your aquarium. Some people will tell you no, and others will say yes. I think it typically depends on the specific fish and again aquarium size. If you are thinking about it I would suggest possibly putting the new clown in a breeder box or something similar where it is protected and you will be able to monitor any signs of aggression.

If it is of the same species they may accept it but there is still no guarantee. If the pair you have are tomato or maroon, I don't think they will let another clown in, based on my experience with them.

I have 3 occelaris on my 40breeder, I added a small male to a pair (not mated) and they accepted him to the group. I don't have any anemones so they chill on my frogspawns and hairy mushrooms.

All you can do is try it, if it doesn't work out then remove the new addition. I would use a breeder/acclamation box to be safe.

A beeder box intro would be best initially, but the bigger issue if not immediately but later when the pair spawn, that is often when there are problems, and that can happen overnight, and it can result in death before you even saw it coming.
Sometimes people get lucky, sometimes it stays that way, often it does not.

My answer would be : can you afford to take the risk and can you live with yourself if your actions cause injury or death? Lol.... Almost sounds like a bad after school special about drinking and driving ....

^^ Agree, learned the hard way many years ago.
I see lots of people give the multiple a try, sometimes it works, sometimes just for a while though, I don't see a lot of people own up and post when it goes south a year or more later
