hey:p i just recently purchased a 3 galllon picotope and was wondering about the care for dwarf seahorses, what id need to get the tank started and how long the cycle takes?

3 gallons huh....how cute, but would just be concerned on keeping up water quality with the bio-load they can put on any system.

You would need to hatch BBS daily, so that also can become an issue.

Are you planning on live sand & rock??? Also you will need to do really frequent water changes on that, maybe consider something a tad larger???

A 3 gal will work very well dwarfs are best kept in small tanks. I kept dwarfs in a 5 gal for over 3 years and had no problems when their numbers got to about 60 or so I put them in a 20 gal thinking it would be better and everything went bad, lost most of them, then I put them back in the 5 gal and every thing went good again. the problem was the larger tank it was hard to keep enough food without fouling the water. So small is best just make regular cleaning and water changes

I have dwarves in a 2 1/2 gal tank with fake plants.
I also use an aquaclear on it.
I do 3 small water changes a day. After each feeding I clean out the uneaten food.
