3 gallon nano fish options?

Now that you've clicked preparing to rip me a new one. I'm not serious about that. Yes I do have a yellow tang, but he is happily in my 180 reef.

But in all seriousness I'm curious what my options are fish wise. I'm planning on one fish. What options do I have? Pretty much anything that doesn't do much active swimming. I was thinking a pistol shrimp and goby? Or a tail spot blenny and then a sexy shrimp or something. What do you guys think?

Clown gobies and small species shrimp gobies would work. I had a jbj 3 gallon for a few years and had a tiny damsel in it, I broke it down and the damsel went into my 40b. There is a really good fish guide for nano's and pico's on nanoreef.

Even in a 3g, flaming prawns might disappear. I really like the eviota gobies, they are less cryptic and have done well for me in my 12g nano.
I do like sexy shrimp for a 3g, and I like PomPom crabs if you can find one.

I'd avoid the tail spot, he will get too big in my opinion. I kept panda gobies in my 3g pico, and they are the right size for your new tank, but honestly I would not recommend them- they were too cryptic and we never saw them. We kept flaming prawns for years and that was also my experience with them.

In a 3g, unless you are plumbing it into your display I would avoid the pistol. I would worry too much about water quality issues from the constant digging.

im wondering how many people clicked getting ready to go to war on this lol.

since i will only be able to have one fish, i wanna stay away from cryptic stuff that disappears. id put my harlequin in there, but id rather keep him in my other display. im going to take a look at those suggestions

i like the hi fin goby, im going to look for one of those at my lfs whenever the tank is done with its cycle

I would avoid the harlequin. 3g is large enough, but water parameters will be tough to maintain- we did it with a 5.5g and it was tough.
Another fish to consider is the green banded goby. They are not terribly cryptic, but are about the right size for the tank.

Good plan. We have a pair of them in our 205g, and I enjoy watching them.

I would suggest a cover if you don't already have one, all of these fish tend to be jumpers.

The tank has a cover on it, i love my harlequin, but I'd rather keep him in my larger tank. Right now I'm just letting it run to try and get the characteristics of the water Params down pat

i have my flaming prawn goby in a 7.5g. there is a good bit of rock in it so sometimes he might vanish for a day or two but i also regularly see him as well.

I clicked this thinking "Oh, somebody's looking for tiny gobies".
Hmm... I'd suggest eviota gobies, greenbanded gobies (adorable but a bit shy) or clown gobies of some kind.
Ooh! You could try an anemone shrimp or one of those other little bitty fragile shrimp that gets lost in big tanks. Maybe a sexy shrimp?

A flaming prawn goby would be cool as others have mentioned. Also, check out some of the Trimma or Eviota gobies.
